ALL DLC does NOT mean Marrowind, don't buy ESO PLUS for the wrong reason!
Even though steam labels Marrowind DLC, it's an expansion. Don't make the same mistake I did assuming you're going to get access to the expansion (DLC) with a subscription.

If someone from steam is reading this, please take off the DLC banner since it's misleading and I'm out $15 I never would have spent for some in game currency and some bells and whistles I can't even use on a new character.

I opened up a ticket but that's not going to do any good since I already agreed to not being able to refund a subscription when I bought it through steam, and Bethesda isn't helping because they aren't the ones who advertised it as DLC.

RIP ME

Steam doesn't differentiate chapters from DLCs. All downloaded content is DLC for them. Steam is only a store and that's the classification available. Zenimax is the one who calls Morrowind a chapter, a renaming of content to backpedal from their old promises. It is a DLC, it will always be a DLC, but it won't be technically called a DLC by Zenimax so they can still charge you for it without breaking their oath.

Even Final Fantasy XIV's expansion Stormblood is called a DLC on steam. There is only DLC on Steam, nothing else. Everything is a DLC. You want to be angry at Zenimax for duping the players with their misleading terminology and naming obvious DLCs as not DLCs, not Steam.

Actually it's steam fault. Game expansions were a thing way before steam, way before DLCs actually. They should have made the distinction from the start. Because the distinction has always being there.
The line got blurred when stuff went to full digital release because most people don't buy boxes nowaday. But the line is still there.

In some other topics some guys said that the distinction doesn't matter, that everything is DLC and that people know what they are talking about when they are talking.
Well, there you go, some people are confused, clearly we don't talk about it enough.

That DLC term needs to go away and other classifications need to come because the market changed and the terms are not representative anymore.

But what do I know, it's just money, who cares about money anyway.

I've seen cosmetic items, maps, soundtracks, PDFs, loot chests, in game premium currency and subscriptions all clustered under DLC. The store should differentiate these things.

At one time there was this thing called expansions/add-ons which kept things simple, then when PC gaming went full ♥♥♥♥♥♥ after going fully digital it had to try and be hip and cool and add things like a season pass, DLC, cosmetics, weapons, etc.

At one time expansion meant a whole new part of a game be it a new world map, a whole new story, etc.

Add-ons where anything that did not fit into the "expansion category" That ranged anywhere from maps, weapons, cosmetics, characters, cars, music packs, game modes. Now its all lumped into DLC and rarely is the term expansion ever used and when it is, confusion like this happens because well some could not just leave well enough alone.

Why would you buy a plus membership on just assuming why not find out what it includes before you spend the money?I'm not saying its all your fault but it clearly is not all on Steam/Zeni either, you could have at least found out about the sub?
Who buys something that gives you access without fully seeing what access it gives you? It's like buying a parking pass and complaining there are no parking spots because the time you want to show up it's packed and blame them for not warning you of the busy time.

I just don't get it, so many ways to do things before you buy a product like searching, checking a forum, asking friends, I guess you know what they say a fool and his money are soon parted.

I could have been more careful and definately should have been when it comes to making a purchase. But I had my credit card ready to buy the expansion, and then a friend of mine mentioned the ESO PLUS which on their page advertises ALL DLC included for $15.

https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/esoplus

and I check steam and see Marrowind as DLC

store.steampowered.com/dlc/306130/

ALL DLC - check
DLC - check.

I'm glad it's obvious to you and that you wouldn't have made that mistake. I'm just trying to explain how it happened to me and the thought process behind it.

I think this is very rude and reflects poorly on your character. I hope that the next time you see someone make a mistake, you'd offer a hand instead of a lecture.

I did offer suggestions, just because you took it as not, does not mean it was not present...

No matter how I put it you would have disliked it because it's obvious you don't know how to handle criticism and call people rude even when they do show ways you could avoid this.

I also never said I don't make mistakes, but I also do not just get a subscription to something without first finding out what it all includes, and it was clear that the Steam store page was not very clear on that, so when I went to buy it I logged into the game to see if it said what it all included.I just don't get that whole concept of subscribing to something and later upset about missing content that was clearly never part of and could have been avoided with a quick google search.

I was not rude I asked a legitament question of why would you do that?Again why would you sub to something without first seeing if it will be what you want. It's one thing to sub and it has everything you want but don't like the quality, but another to complain about something missing that was never part of the package when google would have answered that.So again I ask why would you buy something not knowing fully what it includes and just assume?

The issue here is that most people, when buying, don't go thinking "so where are they lying to me ?". They assume that words mean what they mean, no matter the store.

He got valid information, someone says ESO+ gives all DLCs (which is true), then look at the steam page and sees morrowind DLC. Unless you know in advance that "chapter" here isn't just a fancy word but a real business model and that ESO crown DLCs are not regular steam DLCs, it won't tick.

I understand it's a mess that will most likely not get fixed, still does not take away that if they would have just did a google search or even checked in-game crown store before purchase they could have saved themselves a lot of trouble. It's easy to lay all the blame on just one person or thing even if we could have been more pro-active ourslves.

ESO Plus is our premium membership service. Sign up now to receive in-game benefits that let you get the most out of your journeys in Tamriel. Members receive increased experience, faster crafting progression, and bonus gold along with access to all available DLC Game Packs in the Crown Store and a monthly allotment of 1500 Crowns (total membership amount of crowns given at time of purchase) to spend in the in-game store on pets, mounts, costumes, and much more. ESO Plus is the best way to see everything ESO has to offer! Please note that access to DLC Game Packs in the Crown Store granted by ESO Plus is only available while your membership remains active.

It clearly says..

"and bonus gold along with access to all available DLC Game Packs in the Crown Store"

Key words in the quote being "Crown Store" It never says access to all DLC,and I would think a red flag would pop up as to why it mentions "packs" but the only DLC to show in the Steam store is Morrowind,it's one DLC not even a pack of DLC.

Like I said, I'm glad it's obvious to you and you're above making a mistake like this.

I already admitted to the mistake that I made and how I made it in the intial post. You say it's a mess but then double down by saying I should have been more careful and that I'm blaming someone else for "an obvious mistake".

Several people, not just myself, are making the same mistake. My point to the post was to warn people to prevent it but if you want to skim through the discussion boards and tell people they deserve to have their money taken, you do you man.

"You will lose all of your money because you're a fool".
A proverb pointing out that my intelligence is lesser and that I deserve to have my money parted from me isn't criticism. Offering advice for google searching and asking a friend is. I did ask a friend, she thought that ESO included Marrowind and I did as well because it's worded poorly. At least, it's worded poorly for us "fools".

You did give good criticism but you were also rude about it. I cropped what you said which was rude, not your entire post. I don't know how you missed that with your stellar reading skills and comprehensive capabilities.

I never said anyone deserved it,but you talk about my comprehensive skills. If I wanted to do that I would have outright said it was you deserved it I never did.

The bit about a fool and his money was maybe a bit over the top and came across rude, but you said I was being rude, which implied I was rude the whole time,as you never said I was at times rude, you just said I was rude and on top of that not helpful then now admit I was..

You may not like the bit about the fool, does not make it any less true. It's meant to describe someone who was foolish with there money, and you was.The only difference is I did not sugar coat it.I have been that fool, and most likely will again,it happens it's called being human either accept it or keep fighting it.
