Top ESO Bugs
If Elder Scrolls Online were managed by an effective Product Owner, these are the bugs they would focus on first -- and, the community would see some level of progress on these longstanding issues.

Leave a comment if you, as a player, are also frustrated by the onslaught of issues plaguing this game.

Dungeons and Dungeon Finder Issues

- Getting "lost" in the queue with an infinite timer
- Instance is full error when players are engaged in combat
- Instance is full error when players are NOT engaged in combat; generally created when somebody leaves the party and another player tries to join
- Teleporting a new party member to the beginning of the instance instead of with the group
- Running a random dungeon and NOT getting your reward
- Having players who are invisible -- makes ressurecting difficult
- Having bosses whose body disappears because they teleport seconds before death
- Being sent to a dungeon that has already been completed -- and then forcing the player to wait another 15 minutes to join another dungeon
- Grouping up with (3) other players, queueing for a random, and continually being bombarded with a player in your group has declined the invite (even though we're all laughing on Discord because... none of us did)... whoops?
- Invisible walls; seems to be isolated to indoor areas but all 3d objects and walls disappear making it very challenging to navigate -- requires completely shutting down the game and relogging in to fix

Login Errors

- Connection timed out error -- what is this? 1999? Load balance your authentication API
- Steam link related sign in issues (like June 9); you need to allow Steam players to sign in using their normal credentials
- Steam link timeout produces a soft error. When a player leaves the ESO Launcher open and Windows 10 goes to sleep your Steam session is eliminated. When you wake the computer and launch the game it produces an uninsightful error. The only way to fix it is to close ESO, close the launcher and re-launch the game.

too bad you weren't fixing this... we would all be playing by now

Hard Crashes

- I would estimate the game has a hard crash to desktop about 5% of the time I play; I'm running a 4-month old custom build with Intel, Asus, Western Digital and nVidia parts... you can't get much more standard than that. This issue is typically experienced when changing zones which is especially frustrating when you waited 20 minutes to get into a random dungeon, crashed and then got "booted" from the party by your comrades who didn't want to wait for you to relog in
- I would estimate the game has a hard crash to desktop about 10% of the time when exiting the game -- I get that this is less disruptive... but serious, it doesn't say much for your engineering team or the Elder Scrolls brand

Stealth Bugs

- When you open a door while stealthed and the game says detected... yet there is nobody inside or outside the zone... who detected me? Stealth should be persistent during a zone change and for about 1.5 seconds after the client is recognized by the server
- Having the stealth meter move towards a stealth state and then reset all the way back; yet, no NPC changed position or rotation -- you can actually cause an indefinite cycle of stealth resets
- Pickpocking when it says 100%... but by the time your keyboard or mouse input reaches the server it's actually at 90-95% and you are caught -- I'm sorry, but this is just really, really lousy client-server engineering
- 90% success in pickpocketing is actually closer to 60% -- and, I have a spreadsheet of theorycraft to prove it given 200 samples

Level 0 hidden profile person who does nothing but post an attack on the game company right before E3 on a weekend that's mysteriously keeping players from playing right before E3

Somehow I find your garbage dubuious, and that's putting it mildly

Go away stooge, you're a poor tool

Physics Issues

- Getting stuck on a pebble. Enough said. You're walking your character around and a digital object less than 1/10th your character size causes you to get "stuck" -- you can't walk over it without a jump, you can't roll past it, and it's frustrating when it gets you killed in a veteran or trial dungeon.
- Collision detection physics are ridiculously rudimentary. When you jump, even against a short object about 1/4th player height, your character goes straight up as opposed to moving gradually over the object -- this is why players often have to bunny hop 3-4 times to get out of water, over short walls, etc. There should be forward momentum for players when jumping and pressed directly against an adjascent object in front of the character.

What, do you work for ESO? A good product manager or owner for Zenimax would be reading this and adjusting their next SCRUM cycle. The only way to improve the game is to make note of the issues causing players to churn.

These are all so true, they really need to work on these issues. Hopefully this huge community backlash against the login issues today will wake them up a little bit but honestly knowing ZOS I doubt it

Usability Issues

- No easy way to teleport in or out of a dungeon
- Getting kicked out of a random dungeon before you have time to complete a quest when all other players in the party have left -- the instance should remain persistant until the last player chooses to leave (which should be done using metric #1)
- Poor in-game descriptions (e.g. champion points); it's nearly impossible to know what champion points affect what abilities without intense theory-crafting / testing; third-party information is frequently outdated or obsolete
- Bodies occasionally become unlootable while in a dungeon; it requires a /reloadui to fix
- Doors are not clickable due to being "stuck" in combat while in a dungeon; this often requires a complete relog to fix -- instituting an event listener whereby after 30 seconds of zero combat activity a player should be force removed from combat (it's a hack, but it will fix it)
- Load times... I have a state of the art machine -- from what I can tell most of the load time latency is not from loading textures or other game data locally, but rather waiting to hit game API's and gathering server data
- The profanity filter -- replace it; there are far better machine-learning based technologies; as it stands, the false positive rate is unacceptably high and often makes it difficult to read legitimately good messages from other players -- and turning it off isn't ideal for those of us who want to tune out that kind of language or discussion

I've had the priviledge of working with pretty much every major game vendor... which is why my profile remains private. My background is primarily in product ownership but I am also a software engineer with 20 years experience.

Now, go away, troll. Some of us would like to encourage ESO to fix our top issues and actually turn this game into something worth sticking around for.

As it stands, my guess is the executive team at Bethesda is already riding Zenimax over INSANE levels of player churn. People just don't have the patience to stick around when the game has this many glaring issues. And, if their product team isn't up to the task the least we can do as a player community (personally, who has loved Elder Scrolls since Arena and Daggerfall) is sharpen their priorities.

Game Design Flaws

- Downgrading players as they approach champion point 160; I'm not sure which game designer game up with this system but it's discouraging in gameplay to start a level 1 and have god-like powers only to realize how weak and frail you've become when you finally reach CP160... and then try to build up to that same calibre of power through gear grinding
- Allowing a group of people to enter the dungeon finder without forcing a ready check; this results in countless cancellations and disruption to other non-grouped players -- essentially, it contributes to the rapid "pinging" of the dungeon finder

Why thank you TOOL, you just answered why you're whole post here is nothing but garbage with your "I've had the priviledge of working with pretty much every major game vendor" coming in to post trash about the company right before E3 hoping to stir something up TOOL, IMO you're about as full of :Pooop: as you claim this company is.

I'm no big fanboi of any company, MMOs are notorious for having their issues and yeah there's things that need to be addressed, but you know what I really hate "Brad", I hate people like yourself, stooges who stage attacks all with the purpose of trying to make things look worse.

Net-trash like yourself has always been a blight on the gaming community, you try to make other games look bad because the product you represent (and yet are so afraid to come out and admit to, which is why you HIDE) is just so inferior that the only way you have of making it look like it isn't just a polished turd is to dump on everyone else's

pathetic
