ESO and weird sense of progression
Hey,

I picked up this game last year to try it out, leveling a sorcerer, and i really liked it in many ways.To be honest there were two major downside for me that i didn't like about it : the bland graphic style, and the sense of progression i didn't have at all, which i was looking at the most as a mmorpg lover.I didn't quit the game because of that but for personal reasons, and today the mmo itch coming back, i'm contemplating getting back to it but still have a few concern i had last year when i stopped at around ~CP100

People kept mentionning how the game is way better since level and zone scaling.I can't really compare and give a fair opinion because i didn't play back at the start, but i'm certainly not a fan of "ok you're out of the tutorial, now you can go anywhere and do anything", i like a bit of hand holding but it's not my main concern, now i get to my point : level scaling.

I ALWAYS felt like i wasn't progressing on my character, because each time i leveled up, i was scaled back again and had to upgrade my gear to stay as strong as i was 1 level before, indirectly feeling like i was getting weaker as i leveled..
I thought it would change when i'd get to level 50, but no, i'd still get weaker with each champion point i'd get.

Now i know something is happening at cp160, and couldn't get there last time i played, so before i jump into this game again, i'd like to know if this scaling i really don't like ends, and if you actually feel stronger at each cp gained after 160, and items upgrade you find ? When i get to cp160 can i directly equip BiS and be done about gearing my character (which would be sad) ?

Help me.

Of course. But don't expect you will get all on 160cp. Getting some of BIS items (like vMA weapons or perfected staves) requires some skill level.

Like all ES games, ESO was built to explore and exploring will gain you XP. It was also built to be a 85% single-player game, you don't need others until you come across a WB - world boss, or dungeons where you see a dungeon with a + sign on it. Cyrodiil is PvP zone that also have PvE quests add to it for Brave PvE'ers.

Levels wont let u feel urself powerfull. Gear will. Its about dungeons and raids

You will get stronger and stronger up to 50, then once you hit CP51 to CP160 you will actually get weaker. There's stuff online I'm sure you can find out about why you actually are weaker.....

BUT, CP51 to 160 is SUPER fast. You can easily get it in like 2 or 3 days depending on how much you play.

Once you hit 160, you will start FARMING or CRAFTING to get your own gear that you will keep for a while. You can work on BiS.

You will need to do dungeons every day....for some BiS weapons you will need to do things like VETERAN MAELSTROM ARENA....or TRIALS. All of those for BiS you will need to do on VETERAN levels.

"the bland graphic style"
You must have a poor taste, really. Or maybe you're used to mmorpg with disgusting blur effects and all of the little shiny effects at every attacks.

Thanks for the feedback, still gonna level up to cp 160 and go from here, the game is still fun without that progression feeling, it just feel weird being level 1 and having same HP as an endgame player.Maybe because one of my favorite memories about WoW a decade ago was getting to 1k HP coming into stranglethorn, or seeing my first 1k crit.it's the little things that forged my love for these types of games i need to reevaluate maybe.

Did i hurt your feelings ? I think the graphics are very good for an mmo, especially at max settings at 100+ fps, it just feels like all the characters kinda look alike, and the world is mainly shades of grey and brown. But hey it's my first elder scrolls game so what do i know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

CP's make a big diffrence, not the single cp itself but accumulated. I'm at soon cp 400 and with wrong assignement, I can lose tousands of DPS on my DD Sorc / DD Templar.

My complaints about ESO are the opposite, I think it's way too easy, when I start a new class I never have to look for gear upgrades, I just wear what I get. The challenge is completly gone. I mean, I lvled up my mag sorc in Obsidian scar alone at ~lvl 20

Edit: The reason im still into it are my personal Endgoals. I want to be able to run many Vet dungeons solo with ease. I want to be able to Participate in vet trials without being the carried one. I want to beat DLC dungeons in vet. All these challenges keep me going.

The real Progression in my eyes is finding thr right sets that fit your playstyle and using your CP to match your sets. its a hard task (atleast for me) but very rewarding when you see yourself be able to finish dungeons you werent able to do before :)
If you're only motivation for playing is DPS progression, you'll probably end up being really disappointed. The walk to best in slot gear and max CP doesnt happen over night. But you'll get there, just be patient and take a breather to enjoy the elements. ESO is a little different because of the ES style. You will progress, but for most the first couple of hundreds of the CP levels is a learning curve, then they experience how much farther they've come. Take your time ro read into good builds and learn from that
