Why the Ebonheart Pact is the best faction
==DISCLAIMERS==
1. Before I start I'll say this; it's just an opinion. If you get offended or are otherwise too daft to realize the nature of this post then you wil be ignored.
2.This is just something I want to write down because I think Elder Scrolls lore is an interesting subject and this is an easy place to share my ideas. (ESO forums are rather dead)
3. I also know EP is not a very popular faction, especially not in PvP, so this post will probably make a lot of trolls come out of the woodwork so... just ignore them, ok?
4. Yes this is a huge bit of text so if you're not interested just move along as I just wrote this for entertainment purposes, not to make you go to school or something.
==END DISCLAIMERS==

Ok great, now that's over with let's get this started! :47_thumb_up:
So we have 3 factions. Let us start with the history of how they came to be starting with the EP.

The Pact was formed after the Akaviri landed on Skyrim and started invading Tamriel for the second time. With overwhelming forces they also quickly laid siege to Morrowind. The war could have been lost but Almalexia managed to halt the armies at Mournhold while Nord King Jorunn tried to cut off the main force from any reinforcements. Their plan could have failed if not for the timely intervention of the Argonians who, together with the Dunmer, managed to drive back the Akaviri to the shores and into the seas. After this the three races came together to negotiate the aftermath and then the Pact was formed.

Now the other two factions come into play. Even though bloodied and beaten, the Pact is now the biggest force on Tamriel and the leaders of the other races fear a war for the imperial throne is brewing. And so these races make their own alliances so they can oppose any faction that might try to dominate the continent.

The Altmer convince the entire Khajiit race that they are their saviours (because of the disappearing moons, but why the Khajiit would ever believe that lie is never explained) and tighten their leash on their Wood Elf "friends" to form the new Dominion. Then The Daggerfall covenant happens simply because Breton and Redguard royalty got married and they needed the Orc's to join them. Nevermind that Orcs would never be part of any faction, they somehow decide to join in for carnage sake, I guess. I know Argonians in the Pact make little sense either, but the writers at least TRIED to explain that part with politics as the houses in Morrowind actually make such a thing possible. (As some families agree the Pact is important, the Telvanni don't give a damn about anything non-dunmer. As they do)

So already the EP has more history. More impact. More reason to fight. Then they have the 3 "living gods" of the Tribunal in their prime leading the Dunmer which take the main spotlight many times in the game. One expansion is all about Morrowind and Vivec, and the biggest DLC so far is the Clockwork City with Sotha Sil. Why would any other faction be welcome in either place? The reason is never given but it's simply "everyone must be able to play every thing regardless of faction because it's a video game they all paid for". Which is why the EP and DC people are allowed on Summerset in the coming expansion as well, even though you'd think Summerset would remain closed to any one outside the Dominion... but I digress.

What I also loved about the EP is also the relationship between the races. They each have to compromise a lot and it shows within each country. Nords want to remain independent as always but know they need the Tribunal and their magic to stand a chance against their invaders. In turn the Dunmer dislike Nords but are thankful every day that they're fighting with them instead of against them. You see signs like these as small as innkeepers commenting on the war or huge examples where leaders of factions talk to you about their current status and thoughts. They give you a lot of opportunities to form your own opinion on these situations that are very similar to real-life confrontations of cultural, religious or simply material war.

When I was playing Dominion and Daggerfall I... barely got any of that. All races seem so seperate from each other, you can't even tell you're in an alliance unless you go into PvP. I remember literally one moment where a Bosmer told me about the tough political situation they were in... and that was it. Not one Khajiit with conspracy theories that the Altmer are actually tricking the other races into their servitute (which is what they are doing btw) or anything like that. Where is the impact of these sudden alliances? Where is the uncomfortable tension between Orc and Breton? Where are the Bosmer grudges toward their Altmer oppressors like the Argonians do toward their former Dunmer slavers? No, in the other factions their relationships are simply informed, but not shown. I've never felt proud to be part of those factions but with the EP you get enough depth it's hard not to hold back that single tear when you hear a bard sing "Three Hearts as one"

So why even bother with King Emeric and Queen Ayrenn? They are only going to war because they want the Imperial throne (or at least so nobody else gets supremacy) They don't even care that the entirety of Tamriel can be destroyed by Coldharbour; their blind greed or hatred for the other factions is more important. Meanwhile the Pact is fighting as a desperate attempt to stay independent from these war-mongers after fighting a tough war against the Akaviri.

So yes. I feel EP is the best faction because it has the most depth and is better explained lore-wise. The other factions don't feel very real because you don't see the impact of their alliances at all, and being part of this huge faction is simply represented with a logo and a colour motif. So that's how I came to my conclusion.

The Altmer will always be my favourite race (followed by the Beast Races) but I'm not too shy to say the Pact won my heart here in ESO. And now I've spend a significant time in all factions I can safely say any future character I make will probably be EP.

If you came this far, thank you very much for reading as I honestly didn't even expect any one to take this seriously here on the Steam forums.
If you have anything to add feel free to comment though in fear of offending people I might not always reply. Thanks again and have a wonderful day.
