Why does everyone love the Aldmeri Dominion?

Like didn't everyone hate them back in Skyrim since you know the Thalmor are evil and that they belonged to the Aldmeri Dominion. Also aren't the High Elves really racist and upstuck back in Skyrim and ESO as well? I don't get why now everyone is all over the top in loving AD all of a sudden, makes no sense.

The real reason there are so many AD is because when ESO was new, it was faction locked. Players in Ebonheart could not travel to Aldmeri zones until they reached Caldwell Gold. Additionally, Cyrodiil PVP campaigns had a account-wide Home campaign that would not allow your alts to join the same campaign as your other characters unless they shared the same alliance.

Due to this division of the playerbase, playing with your friends and supporting the campaign your main is working on meant every character you made had to be the same faction.

Ebonheart attracted young Skyrim fans and Daggerfall brought in the purists but both MMO and PVP veterans flocked to Aldmeri because its three races represented the strongest racial mix for making various characters with. If you're going to be locked to a single faction, you need a faction that has everything you'll need and Aldmeri was it. The perfect source of races.

Only players who preordered the game were given the explorers pack that allowed them to choose any race for any alliance. This was not available in the Crown Store for years so all players who started after preorders were locked to choosing by alliance.

So most of the hardcore old guilds were founded as Aldmeri and the tradition just kind of carried over since their races are still a good mix even if not optimal choices. Unless you feel like spending money to buy the Any Race Any Alliance upgrade then you're better off sticking to one alliance for PVP.
