FFXIV vs ESO
which would you say is best for long run?
Nguyên văn bởi Lust:
Personally FF14>ESO.

While it's super easy to spend hundreds of hours on both (guilty) you just get better quality content from FF14 plus their cash shop doesn't have random loot boxes, houses that do nothing that cost 100$ and endless button mashing combat.

While opinions are entirely subjective FF14 is a lot easier on my hands. I can play it for hours at a time and not feel the need to rest for a bit. ESO on the other hand is just so button mashy that after an hour or two I have to take a break.

Early game the combat does seem slow but the reason for that is so you actually learn your skills, what they do and when you should be using them.
That all is just a build up for the late game fights. Some of the bosses are like wicked DDR stuff with movement and dodging and if you don't get outta the way you die. It actually encourages you to pay attention while playing because the hard mechanics are in the fights not necessarily each job's playstyle.

The current end game fights are actually so complicated I can't get a clear on any of them (savages/ex trials etc). Although I'm anti-social so I don't have a static or FC that runs that stuff.

If you've fallen asleep playing you obviously haven't gotten to that point because it would be impossible to stand still in any end game content without tanking the floor.

Just look at this.

While not necessarily hard it's a lot of stuff to pay attention to for my old ass and one or two deaths during those mechanics will totally wipe you. You actually need a competent team to clear content while in ESO the majority of button mashing will get you through in most stuff.

Again entirely subjective but I don't find the majority of content in ESO that hard and I hate their monetization practices. Face it every single mount is a re-skin of the base 5 or 6 ones and there is like 2000$ worth of re-skins to collect.
Some of the outfits are nice but the vast majority of their original colours are hideous forcing you to either waste crowns on those basic dye swatches or buy a sub to unlock the outfit dyeing. THEN even after you do all that you're tied to account achievement dyes so until you have done most of the game content you won't have access to a lot of the actual good colours.

Constantly feel pressured when logging into ESO to buy crowns for the latest shiny that'll just sit in my collections but never once have I ever felt pressured to buy and Mogstation items in FF14 because they don't force these "flash sales" with fake rarity to encourage easily swayed people to buy it or wait a year (me). I mean you should see my in game ♥♥♥♥ with the tons of outfits and crap I've bought and never use.

Anyways sorry for being long winded haha don't @ me.

Final fantasy if you care about friendships and the community.
Eso if you care about an insane list of content to go trough.
What content does ESO have? The same old solo quests where you're doing the exact same thing over and over again? It's very, very repetitive.

I have 1,200 hours in FF14 and I've only seen like 3/4 of the game. They don't just add typical MMO content. They add all kinds of different things to keep the game interesting. In the next patch, they are adding a farming mode that basically turns the game into Stardew Valley.

As far as I'm aware, FFXIV doesn't allow mods, which sort of puts me off. I use various things to aid in accessibility with ESO, for which I am very grateful...

FF14 has a very, very active modding scene. They're technically not allowed but you can't get in trouble unless you stream yourself using them or something like that. lol

Yeah, I don't think being banned would be fun...

They have no way to detect who is and is not using mods. You cannot get in trouble for this unless you go out of your way to create evidence that you're doing it. You have to stream yourself doing it or go in game and shout "I'm using mods! Come and get me!"

Look up FF14 on Nexus. There are hundreds of mods and people use them, every day.

Fair enough...

I find it comical that numerous “ESO is bad” posters here, are the same ones who complained about the game being too hard.

ESO has better lore, better combat, better pvp, art style, engine optimization, and better voice acting. Because of all that, it has more players, and doesnt have to charge a monthly sub just to keep its servers online. Its also one title in a long line of titles, and thus it will be phased out and replaced as soon as they have their next game ready.

ESO wins over that final fantasy anime garbage anyday.

My info is 1.49 Million, not over 2 million... but okay. Doesn't matter at all. It makes it not a better game... most people don't like the more active combat system in ESO and that's okay. I don't like this slow tab targeting combat from FF14... and both is okay.

After World of Warcraft, FF14 is the most successful MMORPG in history. You've also gotten all of your other facts wrong, too.

When ESO launched, it was intended to be subscription only, just like FF14. Just 9 months after launch, there were so few people left that they had to go free to play: https://www.vg247.com/elder-scrolls-online-no-subs-ps4-pc-xbox-one

Even as a F2P game that requires no subscription, ESO has a tiny fraction of the active player base that FF14 has. Anyone who buys ESO for $7 on quarterly Steam sales has unlimited access to it and almost none of them play it anymore.
Hao Zhao 18 Thg07, 2022 @ 11:47am
And let's not forget that ESO's F2P model is highly predatory. Locking bank space behind the subscription is a cash grab. Locking most of the game's dungeons behind a pay wall, outside of expansions, is a cash grab.

Imagine bragging about any of this like it is a good thing. lol

But why are you here then? complaining about everything in the game (that others really love), if you don`t like it and play another game?
Over 400.000 players are not "none". That's a solid number. Server is active, you find people for everything you need. Lot's of guilds (cause of the megaservers) etc. It's far from dead, extremely far.

I think you should ask yourself that question. Why are you here? The title of this topic is FF14 vs. ESO. The entire purpose of this topic is to debate the merits and demerits of both games.

"Be quiet because I said so", or any variation of that, is a particularly poor argument and you should feel embarrassed for trying it.
