that's why im having hard time decideing which to foces more at.
FFXIV is really solid but as im playing it feels rather really slow. ESO on other hand has stuff that require to to fully extend content by paying sub, or playing diffrent race on diffrent faction which requires pay. to me it feels like ESO provides you most basic MMO but for builds or stuff like that will be locked. while in FFXIV you pretty much get everything in one go
To reiterate this:
The combat in FFXIV was so slow that I literally fell asleep one night leveling my Dragoon.. and Dragoons have one of the most complex rotations in the game, consisting of.. 14? rotational abilities, plus a few abilities that are off the global cooldown that you press at random; like big powerups on long cooldowns and such.
Every action you can in FFXIV is locked behind a 2.5s global cooldown.. and even if you stack Ability Speed (Haste), the most you can lower it, that I've seen, is around 1.94s.. which is still terribly slow for an MMORPG.
Personally, I do not like FFXIV for that reason alone. It's a solid game otherwise.. doesn't feel cheap, or half-arsed, but the combat just kills me.
ESO, on the other hand, has fast, engaging combat. Rotations can be static if you like that, or very dynamic.
I'd say the worst thing about ESO is the DLCs; thankfully the average player misses nothing by not having them. Only the min/maxers will want any of them, and even then they're only going to want Orsinium (Veteran Maelstrom Arena; vMA weapons are some of the best in the game), Clockwork City (Transmutation, unless you have a guild that has a tmute station available), and Summerset (Jewelry Crafting).
Everything else is optional.. fun, but optional.
Not to mention that the crafting in this game is on the extensive side, but not too overly complicated like in some other MMORPGs. (Such as having RNG involved when upgrading a weapon or something; there CAN be in ESO, but if you take the careful route you can 100% upgrade success at the cost of more rare materials.)
i have over 100hrs in ESO is fun game but FFXIV is slowwwwwwww
but is there somthing to aim for in FFXIV?
While it's super easy to spend hundreds of hours on both (guilty) you just get better quality content from FF14 plus their cash shop doesn't have random loot boxes, houses that do nothing that cost 100$ and endless button mashing combat.
While opinions are entirely subjective FF14 is a lot easier on my hands. I can play it for hours at a time and not feel the need to rest for a bit. ESO on the other hand is just so button mashy that after an hour or two I have to take a break.
Early game the combat does seem slow but the reason for that is so you actually learn your skills, what they do and when you should be using them.
That all is just a build up for the late game fights. Some of the bosses are like wicked DDR stuff with movement and dodging and if you don't get outta the way you die. It actually encourages you to pay attention while playing because the hard mechanics are in the fights not necessarily each job's playstyle.
The current end game fights are actually so complicated I can't get a clear on any of them (savages/ex trials etc). Although I'm anti-social so I don't have a static or FC that runs that stuff.
If you've fallen asleep playing you obviously haven't gotten to that point because it would be impossible to stand still in any end game content without tanking the floor.
Just look at this.

While not necessarily hard it's a lot of stuff to pay attention to for my old ass and one or two deaths during those mechanics will totally wipe you. You actually need a competent team to clear content while in ESO the majority of button mashing will get you through in most stuff.
Again entirely subjective but I don't find the majority of content in ESO that hard and I hate their monetization practices. Face it every single mount is a re-skin of the base 5 or 6 ones and there is like 2000$ worth of re-skins to collect.
Some of the outfits are nice but the vast majority of their original colours are hideous forcing you to either waste crowns on those basic dye swatches or buy a sub to unlock the outfit dyeing. THEN even after you do all that you're tied to account achievement dyes so until you have done most of the game content you won't have access to a lot of the actual good colours.
Constantly feel pressured when logging into ESO to buy crowns for the latest shiny that'll just sit in my collections but never once have I ever felt pressured to buy and Mogstation items in FF14 because they don't force these "flash sales" with fake rarity to encourage easily swayed people to buy it or wait a year (me). I mean you should see my in game ♥♥♥♥ with the tons of outfits and crap I've bought and never use.
Anyways sorry for being long winded haha don't @ me.
