So Nords can't have black hair because...?
So i have already looked around the internet to find out about the whole "light hair only" thing Nords and Altmer have going.

This thread is just to discuss and perhaps answer why they chose to not let Nords have dark hair. I don't think its a lore reason given experience with the main games and i am pretty sure "hair dye" exists somewhere in Tamriel. So why do we not have the option? I mean i would actually pay for it, i went looking to pay for it. Does not seem to be an option though.

So does anyone know what is behind this particular piece of game design? Cuz its literally ruining my typical black haired Nord iv'e been making since Morrowind. I just can't make that character without black hair, it ruins the aesthetic!

Tamriel should move with the times, many of us have Asian wives now.

nordic people dont have black hair
Taken from someone else

"Nords aren't based purely on Scandinavians but ancient noth european cultures in general like Celts and Saxons. Even if they were, Nords are Nords, not real world vikings. So there's plenty of black haired nords running around, the Blackbriars,Ravencrones(Jarl of Morthal) and Seranas family all have black hair and are Nords."

I already addressed this. Nords are not "nordic people" they are NORDS, a fantasy race which has been known to have black hair in every other iteration i can find but this one. Hell there are NPCS in the game, IN THE GAME with darker hair than we are allowed. Alter have black haired individuals and its still not an option. So please read my comment next time before posting. If your making some sort of joke it was not at all good.

Wear a helmet ?

If you buy a hair makeover from the crown shop I’m pretty sure you can die them any colour?

I always thought there was something strange about Lydia.

I already said i checked. You can't. I didn't just make this thread immediately. If you are so certain though feel free to show proof.

Also a helmet does not solve anything. My hair is still the same colour. The problem isn't seeing something i don't like, its not having the right hair. I mean i wasn't even planning on not wearing a helmet or hiding it. I need black hair regardless.

She's a perfect example of this games problem. I mean this isn't a Lore thing, the devs just did something they thought made sense and never explained why.

Not really. You seem to be the narky one here. I was more confused at your completely "missed the point" comment.

Insulting someone rarely helps your case after all.

do you realize that the majority of architecture and lore is inspired by Asatru, being norse mythology (originated from sweden, norway & denmark)

we dont have black hair and they take inspiration out of the stories of the old norse just like anything from houses, letters/symbols, draugr and stereotypical understanding of what vikings were like "going to sovngaurd to meet those who fell bravely in battle" etc ? its all the same as Valhall.

theres too many indicators of how far they were willing to take the idea of copying Asatro, belif in the Aesir (norse gods)

even if you dont want to admit that nords are copies of old norse/nordic people in general, what can be seen from my own two eyes is more believable that they clearly wished to make old norse characters just like theyve copied similar early christian churches.

Thats all irrelevant anyway since nodes canonically have darker hair as an option.

Thats all irrelevant anyway since too many indicators shows that its all too clear of what intentions the devs had with the Nords = Norse mythology by lore and norse in nature, theres absolutely zero doubt of it.

The devs have made a mistake then. They should fix it.

youre just not making any sense since the devs own direction of "aesthetics" is actually nordic aesthetics just like architecture/interior and lore fits the nature and fine details of Asatro.

I just dont see how it can come as a surprise to you that theyre trying to make their own version of viking age characters living in the northern countries during the viking age if so many other things by lore and visuals just get a free pass without even a second thought of where its coming from
