what do you mean by that?
I've played both GW 2, and ESO. The Questing, first off is great in ESO. From the side quests, to the unraveling of Deadra and their influence. I can't for the life of me remember.. any quests in GW 2. However, I can talk to you about how I waved 'bye' to the little boy ghost that I felt was my friend. To actually appreciating Argonian lore and the different ways Sithis is looked at. The quests man, are just awesome. It's probably my favorite thing to do in the game, is go off and just.. quest..
I feel they both do the same thing in many regards. Open World PvP, they have Battlegrounds, Zone Events, Raids, you can take any class within both games and mesh them into whatever you want. You can be a really high level and play with your low level friends. Both have action like mechanics rather than tab targeting.
Elsewyr is just around the corner, with another class coming into the game. The game is very active and is only continuing to grow. If you want an MMO that won't feel like a grind rather than a journey well. You got it.
P.S. I have over 700 hours in ESO :/ It happened on accident.
You can play the game by yourself (you will meet a lot of people and can join a guild). There's way more content than Elder Scrolls. The game is slightly confusing at first but there is a wiki page to help you out. I personally played them both and Guild Wars can hold my attention more than ESO. ESO is basically Oblivion but online. Nothing new has been added to the Elder Scrolls franchise in awhile (except online). The combat system seems clunky and I didn't like it, at all. Graphically ESO looks better but gameplay and replay value wise I'd say GW2. I could only play 4 hours of this wretched game. Guild Wars 2 is also free to play. After Fallout 76, I'm never supporting Bethesda again. Bethesda can't make a good MMO. I've played Guild Wars 2, Black Desert Online and ESO. It literally goes in that order from best to worst, least in my opinion.

I'm not sure if it was anyone from the GW team, but its due to the fact that the company is having financial trouble (their games such as guild wars are not making enough money).
ESO has a fairly decent player base at this point and is supposedly doing quite well.
ESO has better story, quests, and endgame content, and as another person mentioned, the future longevity lof the game looks more promising. You could always try out GW2 first as the base game without expansions is free now, so you can see if you like how the game plays, and if its not your cup of tea, buy ESO.
The only 3 games that i loved was Tera, BnS and Age Of Conan: Unchained... they will be always in my heart, but developers ruined them... at least if we talk about Tera...
Now Im playing only Path of Exile and now this one. And ofc CSGO lol. There i have the most HRs played.
The only issue with gw2 is that it's slowing off a little.
But even then I still find eso needs to step up its game because no, giving us 3 skill lines (this is what a class is in eso, 3 skill lines), a zone that will barely see because everybody is doing dungeons once the story is over (since there is nothing to do in a zone at endgame) and paying 40€ for it and then pay for the dlcs (because gw2 dlcs are free if you connect then they launch, talk about business) is starting to be a little to much, especially for long time players.
Eso is pretty much always the same stuff every year.
If you want my advice, go play path of exile and ditch mmos while you can, now that's a game that gets love from its devs.
