New Player - Questions regarding a Sorcerer Build
Hi everyone,

Sorry if this was already been answered but i couldn´t find anything online that could explain me what should i do in terms of a Magicka Sorcerer (DPS) PvE build.

Im currently lvl 12 - High Elf.

So my question is what skills should i level up as im progressing through the game?

1 - Is it ok if i level all of the skills in no particular order?

2- What skills should i focus first to maximize damage?

3 - Can i reset all of the skills later on? If yes, do i need to pay money?

4 - Whats the best type of staff i can use?

Thanks,

Fear

The great thing about ESO is that you can play it your own way. Use whatever skill you want that you think will help you the most.

As for your questions -

1) yeah, its ok as you will get a ton of skills points down the road to use

2) Best skill ling that can help you from your class IMO is the storm calling skills as it gives your DPS powers.

3) Yes, you can reset your skills down the road and it does cost gold to do. The most points you that you have used, the more gold it cost. Its like 50 gold per point or you can use a skill respec scroll.

4) The best staff is up to you but some people use Flame or Lighting for damage and using the Destruction staff skills to help do damage.

I would recommend going for a pet build. Nevertheless, don't worry about builds before level 50, CP 160.

Below is my easily achieavable build, even for a mostly solo PvE player like me. It is meant as a starter build, upon which you can build further. I call it the "Wayward Apostle", due to my Magicka Sorcerer being a Dunmer Clockwork Apostle.

This build deals an insane amount of Shock Damage, has a powerful self-heal (also heals the Matriarch and 1-2 additional friendlies), it can stun and/or immobilize enemies to keep them in your AoE + DoT abilities area. The Light/Heavy attacks (including one of the Ultimates) deal a lot of damage too.

I hope you find it useful.:hee:

ATRIBUTES AND BIRTH SIGN

All Atribute points in Magicka.
Birth Sign, or "Boon" - The Mage (Increase Maximum Magicka)

PASSIVES

All Racial, Dark Magic, Storm Calling and Daedric Summoning, Destruction Staff and Light Armour passives. Fighters Guild passives help a lot with Ultimate generation when facing Daedra, Undead or Werewolves.

SKILL BAR 1

1 - Shock Clench (Destruction Staff - Destructive Touch morph) - spammable, stun
2 - Blockade of Storms (Destruction Staff - Wall of Elements morph) - DoT, AoE
3 - Mages' Wrath (Storm Calling - Mages' Fury morph) - spammable, finisher (AoE)
4 - Bound Aegis (Daedric Summoning - Bound Armour morph) - Maximum Magicka (+8%)
5 - Twilight Matriarch (Daedric Summoning - Summon Winged Twilight morph) - damage, tanking, burst heal, Maximum Magicka (+3150)

Ultimate - Power Overload (Storm Calling - Overload morph) - AoE, Light/Heavy Attack

SKILL BAR 2

1 - Elemental Ring (Destruction Staff - Impulse morph) - spammable AoE
2 - Lightning Flood (Storm Calling - Lightning Splash morph) - DoT, AoE, synergy
3 - Shattering Prison (Dark Magic - Encase morph) - DoT, Immobilization, small heal
4 - Bound Aegis (Daedric Summoning - Bound Armour morph) - Maximum Magicka (+8%)
5 - Summon Twilight Matriarch (Daedric Summoning - Summon Winged Twilight morph) - damage, tanking, burst heal, Maximum Magicka (+3150)

Ultimate - Elemental Rage (Destruction Staff - Elemental Storm morph) - nuke, AoE, DoT

FOOD or DRINK

Any of these three blue foods:

Melon-Baked Parmesan Pork

For a bit less Max Health and Max Magicka, but more Recovery in both, you can use:

Witchmother's Potent Brew drinks:

Increase Max Magicka by 3192, Magicka Recovery by 319, and Max Health by 3511 for 2 hours. These effects are scaled based on your level.

Yea if you're looking for end game builds you're best off checking youtube or something.

For leveling it's good to utilize a pet and kind of mix all three of your trees. Since depending on what end game content you want to do you'll need to swap out skills from each tree.

Most people don't encourage using a frost staff.... but when soloing it's actually pretty strong. As you can easily mass immobilize with it making kiting much easier. (plus mana blocks and a built in damage shield) It's not recommended for dungeons as you can accidentally steal aggro from the tank. So plan to swap out to fire or lightning when doing dungeons.

I will try to decide what build im going to do while i progress through the game

I'd highly recommend the Encase spell and Crystal Shard at your level, if you don't already have them. I'm a level 20 sorcerer and find I use those 2 a lot.

don't spend too many points in weapon skills, you'll be changing types often.
