Missing Chat While in Combat

Whenever I am in combat, chat messages just show "In Combat...". I'm not sure if this is due to one of my add-ons, or basic game function, but how do I turn it off so I can see the chat messages even while in combat? I even installed pChat thinking I could control it from there, but so far I can' find anything.

Any advice is most welcome. Thanks.

what combat or UI addons are you using? Go to Options>Combat and see if any of the combat messages are enabled.

I have both FTC and Combat Metrics installed. I have the Combat log turned off in Combat Metrics, and in FTC I have the Combat Log and Combat text (scrolling text) disabled as well to see if it would help, but so far I haven't been able to find the right setting. In the regular Combat settings, I have all combat text settings enabled.

In case it matters, this is on a Mac.

hmm, yeah if you have the combt log and text disabled in those, then it is probably something in the games UI.

I disabled both of those add-ons and still get the In Combat... message, so must be something in the base UI somewhere that I just haven't found.

I disabled all my add-ons and now I am getting chat during combat. Slowly re-enabling them to figure out which one is the culprit.

ahhh nice, yeah that method works for a lot of issues, especially around expansions when some of the addons arent updated and will break the game for you. Its time consuming but gets the job done. Let me know which one it was :)

Turns out is it Master Merchant. I haven't figured out what setting causes it though. I'll keep tinkering and see what I can find online about the add on settings and post back if I solve it.
