Mercenary motifs

Since im pretty new to the game and i found the heavy mercenary set nice looking, and figuring out how to get it. I've found some of the pieces from dungeons, but is there any level requirement that i need to obtain the motifs?

Hey,

you will sometimes get a drop of them when opening undaunted chests. So you have to do the pledges to obtain this keys :)

Can it be done on any level?

you need to be lvl 45 to be able to do pledges. read here: https://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Undaunted+Pledges

But I think, the things you will get are leveled according to your lvl. So, you should do them when you are lvl 50 and CP 160+. But I am not 100% sure.

You just need to have access to the undaunted and their quests (pledges). Then you can start to collect keys. The lvl doesn't matter then to get this motif drops out of chests.

But as said, you should have access at lvl 45 then ;)

If I recall correctly you must have a certain level in either clothing or smithing to use and learn from motif pages (but you'll receive them anyway). Also don't really bother finding them by opening chests, just go to tamrieltradecenter and search them in guild stores, they're really cheap.

I know this is old, but they are super expensive now for some reason. So difficult getting them :/

this is due to the remodeling of undaunted chests. Now if you want a specific shoulder piece, you just get the 5 key coffer that has a 50% chance of getting the shoulder piece you want in light, medium, or heavy armor.

This consumes more keys and also reduces the chests you buy/have to open that could contain mercenary motifs. Before the update, you could often try a specific chest 20 times just for an off-trait shoulder piece that you want, in the wrong armor weight. and potentially get a motif or two while getting it. Not anymore.

Theres a much, much smaller supply of mercenary motifs yet the same demand. Prices are gonna keep rising at this point.

Ohhh thank you so much for explaining it, I was so confused and nobody online said anything about it. Now I really regret not buying it a while ago when it was dirt cheap. So you reccomend me to just grind keys and buy the specific chests having the motifs I want?

I suggest you grind it out if you dont care when you get it as long as you actually get it, or to purchase it from a guild trader if you really want it now for your character's aesthetic. But consider the spike in price to continue rising and that chest motif pages, along with helmets and legs, are universally the most expensive for any motif.

Thank you for the help! I'll try grinding first until I probably ragequit.
