Run the repair on the Launcher it might fix your problem
i highly doubt your problem is related to ports.
playing ESO on my own system (well since 2014 on three systems) and via good old Fritz, as do most of the people i know, i never ever did a port foreward, neither did anyone i know.
a) Firewall
b) antivir
c) run as admin
d) run the right client (64, 32)
e) run repair
f) contact ZoS support
g) reset your router and make sure you got the newest OS version for the Fritzbox, recently there were two (if i remember correctly) updates, you can look and install them via the Fritzboxe's main screen
e) port-forewarding is a pretty straight foreward (no pun intended), there isn't much you can do wrong, i take it you already looked up a guide and did what it told you, so i doubt you messed up anything here
NEVER EVER MAKE YOUR WIFI PUBLIC
and have a long conversation with whoever suggest this insanity
I have tried points b, c, d and e of your answer, but they didn't work. What do you mean when you say firewall? Isn't it the same as antivirus?
Also, the strange thing is that if I use a free VPN it works perfectly, which is why I thought the problem were the ports
I'll try updating the OS, but I have low hopes
1. Enable TCP/UDP port RANGES from 27000 - 27050
There should be two boxes, one on the left and one on the right, for the range of ports you want open. In the left, you'd put 27000, and in the right, 27050.
2. Enable TCP/UDP port 4380
There should be only one box in this section, where you would put 4380.
So, realistically, it should be two entries within the router. One in the "port ranges" section, and one in the "singular port" section. Once those are filled out, I assume there should be a "save" button somewhere.. and after that you should be done and everything should be fine. The router will likely reset itself (thus causing you to temporarily lose connection) after you save.
If you'd like, post a screenshot of what these sections within your router's setup page looks like, just make sure no identifying information is also in the screenshots.
Edit: nevermind, I just read your last post here.
You mentioned that when you use a free VPN everything is fine.. this is a known problem.
For whatever reason, some ISPs block ZOS traffic.. ZOS knows about it, and can't do anything about it. It's entirely the fault of your ISP for blocking the traffic, for whatever reason. I assume it has to do with money, but who knows.
The ISPs I know of that do this:
US: Verizon, Cox
AU: Optus
Sadly, if your ISP does this as well, a VPN will be the only way for you to play the game. Most free ones have data caps, which are exceeded easily by the Steam download alone, let alone the launcher updates afterwards.
well, that sucks. Thanks for your help anyway. I guess you can add POST Luxembourg to the list of ISPs that block it. Damn it.
I suppose you could try calling your ISP and asking them why the game functions perfectly when using a VPN, just to see what they have to say.. but chances are what they have to say won't be in your favor.
