Honestly, before anything is remastered or revamped, the Engine needs overhauled or the game ported to a current-gen Engine and fully optimized for today's hardware.
But, yeah, it would definitely look better.
I do believe, though, that some folks use custom texture filters for this very purpose.. I don't really know anything about all that, though.

It just divides communities like what happened to Destiny and Guild Wars.
go with this.. it looks awesome. i wouldnt play this game without this reshade filter.

see wow classic / souls hype. people want to feel awesome after they have beaten hard encounters. they wont with easy mode.
