Crown Prices!
Im sorry but are the developers of this game purely insane? Crowns can be extremely overpriced when not on sale especially for simple things like a pet which shouldnt cost anywhere near $20. Its a pet in a video game not a DLC so I dont understand why their prices can be so close to each other. Also for the simple commodity of an exotic house they can cost around 10,000+ crowns. Thats absurd!! Thats around $100 for a simple house in a video game!! Are they high or just extremely greedy? These prices need to be lowered, not everyone has stacks of money to spend on a game.

LOOK @ WORLD OF WARTRASH
Supply and Demand. They price them according to what people are willing to pay. I own three of those $100 houses paid for using in game gold.

The Crown prices are silly because you can get most of the stuff in game. Werewolf bites, xp boosts, houses, dyes, motifs, workstations, furniture, horse training, etc all available in game from master crafting or other sources. They charge to skip the grind and since the grind is semi-decent the price is huge. Some things are more worth it than others.

But compare the items to games that sell a character skin for $20 (league of legends) and you'll see that ESO only charges so much because it's a pay to play game and the customers have more money. Stacks of it, in fact.

There is nothing from the cash shop that you absolutely need that you can't get from the game itself. What you consider expensive is easily affordable for other people.
The reason they are that high is cause ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ actually pay that much for them. lol
I have never bought crowns unless they were on sale and that is only with leftover money in my steam wallet xD
*Pssst* You don't have to buy them if you don't want to.
Yea, they're high. Then I played Warframe and I said to myself: "not that high"
It's also geared to make you want ESO+ since ESO+ people get crowns every month and often have stockpiles of crowns to spend after playing awhile. I'm not sure it's a good strategy but I'm sure they think it is. It creates an "elite" that has nicer cars and clothes like in real life, and I think they want to keep those people happy by keeping some things stupidly overpirced to make them more exclusive.

Since there is no required monthly fee I don't really mind them charging so much for somethings...but I admit I'd like to see some mounts drop in price.

I got 7k crowns left from when I bought a bunch on sale, I just use them to buy DLC. but if a cool reasonably priced wolf or senche mount went for sale I'd be tempted

That's not the issue. Well actually that the freaking issue, now that I think about it...

If you think you're not affected by a market. You're wrong. You are always affected by a market, even if you don't buy. Those guys that are paying anything at stupid price encourage the companies to charge that stupid price.
The thing is, now it's for that. But what happens when those guys become the larger crowd. Well companies will extend that price to other stuff.
Like they're willing to pay $20 for a skin, They surely have money for a 10h empty DLC costing $70.
Then what's stopping them to introduce real game breaking stuff behind paid items. Then you'll have to get them, or just quit because you won't be able to compete.

Just because it's optional, it doesn't mean it's not dangerous for the economy.

@Sajah is right actually, the people who still "buy" will become the supplier's new audience, even while the ones who do not buy the inflated-priced items in question are still apart of that market.

Wonder why financial inflation happens, causing ecenomic collapse in countries? Demand and Supply to Partial Audiences (as well as events leading to a financial downgrade of currency or items that are used to exchange another for the same value) :P, why would the poor rebel the rich? Financial Exclusivity a core reason, (If it's a word, lol).

Both of you seem to be missing a key point here. ESO plus gives you 1500 free crowns every month. In addition to the perks and access to ALL DLC. So for people who prefer to play the game with a subscription, they have all these crowns that they need to spend somewhere. They could buy DLC with them..... but they already get access to the DLC by having ESO plus. There is literally no reason for them to buy the DLC as long as they plan on keeping a subscription plan.

Which is why the crown store offers these items that seem high in price IF you actually pay for them using real money. Except people don't. People pay for them using their subscription credits, which they see as more of a bonus for subscribing rather than what they're actually paying for. They're paying for the craft bag, the XP/housing bonuses, and the access to all the DLC.

Everything in the crown store is just a free bonus for them. If you want to live like they live, then get a subscription. The prices won't seem so high anymore when it's only a month of subscribing to get a free mount. Lots of free to play games have similar bonuses for subscribers, they just normally don't let you PICK what bonus you want or BUY expansions using your subscription credit. ESO is unique there and very fair.

That is the trap!

My two cents: crown store item prices are (on average) very high. But they wouldn't be if no-one was willing to pay them.
Most (semi-)free-to-play games only target whales. Players in general buy either nothing or everything.
Maybe a budget-range crown store assortment could convince some players to finally fork out some cash, but I bet it's nowhere near as cost-effective as going for the big spenders.

I bought a camel, a goat and some fancy threads. Reasonable prices for vanity items.
But I didn't have to.
I figured I throw some money at a game I bought for 10€ yet spent 1500+ hrs on.
I own over a dozen houses. They were all paid for with in-game gold. I won't buy those with crowns as a matter of principle.

And the DLC's... they are fairly priced imo. Especially when you wait for a crown sale.

This will never happen. Whales need lots of small fish. If they scare away the small fish, the whales won't be whales anymore.
Why do you think they got rid of the mandatory subscription?

For cash sure, but not for subscribers. The real trap is the crown store itself, a trap targeting those subscribers. Sure, they could spend their crowns on permanently unlocking DLC that they already have acess to... or they could buy this overpriced horse instead. Look it's a horse! And look a hat! And crafting stations without having to do master writs! Oh look, your own HOUSE with a TITLE attached! All these "pricey" crown store items are just trying to get people who are getting basically $15 in crowns monthly as part of their sub to spend those $15 on useless trinkets instead of things like expansions and DLC. It makes them feel like they're getting a great value out of the subscription because they are getting items that would normally have cost them $100 to get and they didn't pay a single extra cent to do so.
More angry paupers who yelling "i paid 10$ for a game, gimme lifetime handjobs every 10 seconds!", yeah. 8 DLCs atm. Imperial City and Orsimium at 2015, Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood at 2016, Morrowind and Clockwork City at 2017. Shadows of the Hist and Horns of the Reach arent even real DLCs, its just dungeon packs 2 duns each.
5k crowns per year rough. Less than WoW requires for 2 months of "purchase sub or gtfo and we dont care if you purchased game or what".
Not mention you can get first 4DLCs for 5k crowns instead of 10k like those who get TESO a bit earlier. Not mentione they made 50% sale on this bundle from time to time, so its 2500 crowns for first 4 DLCs.

Mumpers...
Don't forget to mention the guar poop :)
