Is TESO a DOT Game?
Im playing around with nearly every Class and i checked out some "Endgame Builds" too and im really missing more skills that have a proc like magic shard which can be instant if other spells are casted.

But what i am seeing is Dots....a giant Load of them. And nearly every Endgame Build i saw is using the same Stuff. Same Dots + a Filler

Are there none "No Dot" Ways to play? I play a Nightblade aka assassin at the moment. What assassin throws 6+ dots at his target? A TESO Endgame Nightblade apparently...

So before i play further and even start forcing myself to play...is TESO designed to be a "throw dots at it" game? Or are there ways to play without dots and without losing too much damage

Okay so here's the deal. Since Elsweyr was released, we have been in whats called a dot meta. Almost every player who spent time on the test server prior to Elsweyr's release said on the forums that they went too far, buffed them all way too much, messed with class identity because of generic dots being OP, and all that was pretty much ignored and we found ourselves where we are now. However, they realized their mistake, and have put out some serious nerfs, which are actually going live right now, as the servers are currently down for the update.

As for endgame builds, remember, these are designed to min max and push to the extremes of dps capacity, so you dont have to follow them. Really, unless you are doing vet trials, or hm achievements in vet DLC dungeons, or trying to be a hardcore pvper, you dont have to follow the endgame builds. Regardless, things are going to be much different when you log into the game after the update.

yeah saw em. why nerf flurry....*sighs* oh well doesnt looks like i can enter the game today anyway

They nerfed flurry as part of the whole DoT nerf. The vMA dial wield set was adding 2k weapon damage to any dot you used within 4 seconds of using flurry, and was making already hard hitting dots hit even harder. Not sure why they thought nerfing everything about dots into the ground was a good idea, as even if they had kept the vMA dual wield buff and flurry the same, dots would still be underwhelming as of today

looks like they have a problem of finding the grey area...its either black (dots op) or white (dots are worthless)

Yup, they have been drawing a huge amount of criticism from the player base recently for this method of balancing. Basically like throwing darts at a board with different nerf amounts and going with it lol

yeah that matches quite well
