2. Whatever zone you are in if you open your map and then select zone exploration you can start the particular zone story.
Can't do that here.
Have you gotten certified for the daily crafting writs?
These can be a steady source of income if you so choose.
I actually would advise against this. Maybe do this for your first few zones, but theres a lot in the game youll be missing if you just follow the story line for each zone before branching out and exploring the rest of Tamriel. Repeatable quests in DLCs, the skill lines pvp and guilds and DLCs give you access to, and just seeing what some zones have going on in them are worth venturing out and about.
No I'm saying just stick to one area until you clear it, side quests and all. The areas are designed pretty well, you usually end up exploring everything in an area on one quest or another. Worrying about dailies and repeatable stuff is pretty useless until you hit lvl 50 because you;re just gonna out level all that gear you're picking up pretty quickly.
For example, I started a necro about a week ago and started in Elsywer. By the time I had a 100% clear on the zone I was level 44. Then I moved on to Vvardefell and getting ready to start that area. It's just so much easier to follow what's going on and understand the story stuff, instead of it just turning into a pointless dialogue skip fest. Since everything scales it really doesn't matter when you do quests. They'll always be there, so running all over the place is just going to make it even more confusing.
Im not sure what would be confusing about going to a different zone and experiencing what it has to offer compared to another zone, especially if all youve seen are the base game zones
That all really depends on the individual player. Yeah if you're trying to power level into trials and are in or plan to join a guild that works. If you're just playing for fun/story there's just no need to do that. It's really inefficient and you'll miss a lot more content when you're constantly being sidetracked by other stuff that's gonna be there no matter when you do it.
- main quest (for soul magic)
- fighters guild quest (for caltrops & stuff)
- mages guild quest (for magic)
all of which can be found in the starter town of your alliance.
Other than that, do what thou wilt.
I like to go to Cyrodil to get the alliance war skillline for retreating maneuver (makes horse travel much faster).
oof, simpler time? why even bother with getting an mmo if your gonna stick to the somewhat boring and might as well be a single player game zone questlines? As the devs even said when they first created ESO, they wanted it to be in keeping with previous titles, where for every 5 different players who start the game, they may all go in 5 completely different directions. I mean you play your game how you wanna play and I and others will do the same, but I personally find the stick to zone story questlines before you do anything else to be bad advice. Theres a lot to do in the game, lots of different stuff you may wanna start doing asap, most of which youll never see until you take a chance and explore.
By "simple", I meant for the OP's problem of being overwhelmed by quests.
