New Character Help - Too Many Quests!
Hey guys I just felt like playing this game again so I made a new character.

Last time I played was ages ago and never even got far, so now I'm pretty overwhelmed as I get to the first big city on the Ebonheart Pact and there's a bazillion quests avaliable, and some lv 9 ones which seem to be dlc or something, I dunno, I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lost man could someone offer some insight on what should I do?
Quests I should focus or ignore? I would really appreciate it, thanks!

1. "talk to the hooded figure" quest. This will start you on the Main story line. It will introduce you to the world and also provide exp points to level up.

2. Whatever zone you are in if you open your map and then select zone exploration you can start the particular zone story.

I should have added, DO NOT pick up every quest you come across or you will be truly overwhelmed :)

I find it strange there's a quest limit of 25 though. In skyrim i just picked up every single quest and did them in my own time :P
Can't do that here.

Yeah that was one of my mistakes, I went picking every quest. I will just follow the story line and maybe some guild quests for now I guess. Thanks for the tips.

If you have picked up to many quests you can abandon the ones you don't want and then pick them up again at a later date.

Have you gotten certified for the daily crafting writs?
These can be a steady source of income if you so choose.

You can always abandon them, they dont dissapear, the NPC or object you interacted with wll simply revert to having the quest available for you to pick up again. The quests don't dissapear from the game until you complete them, and even then there are many repeatable ones. Generally, if a quest tries to send you outside the zone you got it from, it is either a guild quest, part of the main story or for a DLC. As time goes on you'll learn the differences, and which ones are useful in what they reward as opposed to just being diversions.

Just focus on one area at a time and follow each quest in a chain until it's complete. If you try and do too many at once bouncing from area to area it gets overwhelming fast.

I actually would advise against this. Maybe do this for your first few zones, but theres a lot in the game youll be missing if you just follow the story line for each zone before branching out and exploring the rest of Tamriel. Repeatable quests in DLCs, the skill lines pvp and guilds and DLCs give you access to, and just seeing what some zones have going on in them are worth venturing out and about.

No I'm saying just stick to one area until you clear it, side quests and all. The areas are designed pretty well, you usually end up exploring everything in an area on one quest or another. Worrying about dailies and repeatable stuff is pretty useless until you hit lvl 50 because you;re just gonna out level all that gear you're picking up pretty quickly.

For example, I started a necro about a week ago and started in Elsywer. By the time I had a 100% clear on the zone I was level 44. Then I moved on to Vvardefell and getting ready to start that area. It's just so much easier to follow what's going on and understand the story stuff, instead of it just turning into a pointless dialogue skip fest. Since everything scales it really doesn't matter when you do quests. They'll always be there, so running all over the place is just going to make it even more confusing.

Dailes are never useless. I wasnt referrig to the gear. A lvl 4 character has just as much a chance to get a motif from clearing a daily as a lvl 50, and some of those are worth quite a bit, not to mention, they often get you involved with other players in a way you just dont see with solo quest grinding.

Im not sure what would be confusing about going to a different zone and experiencing what it has to offer compared to another zone, especially if all youve seen are the base game zones

That all really depends on the individual player. Yeah if you're trying to power level into trials and are in or plan to join a guild that works. If you're just playing for fun/story there's just no need to do that. It's really inefficient and you'll miss a lot more content when you're constantly being sidetracked by other stuff that's gonna be there no matter when you do it.

I'm with Judge Lazar on this .... stick to a zone's quest for a simpler time. Unlike most other (aka WoW) mmo's, ESO has one quest to an area. As for doing the crafting writs, I have no say on that, as I havent done crafting yet.
Exilyth 2019 年 10 月 21 日 上午 8:53
The important ones to pick up are the starters for skilllines:
- main quest (for soul magic)
- fighters guild quest (for caltrops & stuff)
- mages guild quest (for magic)
all of which can be found in the starter town of your alliance.

Other than that, do what thou wilt.

I like to go to Cyrodil to get the alliance war skillline for retreating maneuver (makes horse travel much faster).

oof, simpler time? why even bother with getting an mmo if your gonna stick to the somewhat boring and might as well be a single player game zone questlines? As the devs even said when they first created ESO, they wanted it to be in keeping with previous titles, where for every 5 different players who start the game, they may all go in 5 completely different directions. I mean you play your game how you wanna play and I and others will do the same, but I personally find the stick to zone story questlines before you do anything else to be bad advice. Theres a lot to do in the game, lots of different stuff you may wanna start doing asap, most of which youll never see until you take a chance and explore.

By "simple", I meant for the OP's problem of being overwhelmed by quests.
