Email address format invalid?

So, I've just bought the gold edition of the game on the store. Never played the game / created an account before today. I select the 'create a new account' option and fill in my details. I keep getting the 'email address format invalid' error, preventing me from creating an account. I'm just putting in a standard gmail.com address that is 100% entered correctly. I don't understand what the problem is? Halp!? :D

Turns out it was actually that the user ID I was inputting was already in use. Don't know why it was giving me the email error, but it's all fixed now. Thanks.

Since bethesda released 25th edition of morrowind, account issues are occurring.
You need to submit a ticket to get your account back to normal. It's bs because its on their end.

I just figure it out. Steam automatically makes an account for you so all you do is log in with your username and password u have with steam.

You'll have to link your Steam account first to your Elder Scrolls online account first (in the Elder Scrolls webpage). After linking, then you can access the game using your Steam username and password.

It's honestly amazing. Every few years I get a random notification on steam and notice it's a comment in this thread and I just sigh!

You would have thought that something as simple as modifying the error message that appears would be a simple fix.

Either way, I'm glad google has this thread well indexed for those having this problem. The game itself is good fun and it would be a shame for someone to refund the game because of such a silly bug.
