Why does this game shut my internet connection off?
Playing game with friend connected on Curse. Plays game for 30 minutes. Connection times out and I'm unable to log back in again. Attempt to log back in again. Logging back in is unsuccessful. Quit game. Quit launcher. Steam is now entirely disconnected from the internet. Turn chrome on. Cannot search anything via google. Cannot connect to facebook. Both say their DNS server cannot be found.

Restart PC. Minute later, everything is fine. This has happened three times in the last 2 hours. This only occurs when I play this game. Otherwise, my internet connection is fine, regardless of what other game I'm playing, be it Tera, LoL, Overwatch, Diablo, etc.

Why does this game shut my internet connection off?

Are you launching it through multiple clients? (Steam/Curse/BN/etc)

Just through Steam.

Bump
Does anyone have any thoughts?
If it helps whatsoever, I'm on a college campus.

the game does not have the ability to disrupt your internet

Then that begs the question of: Why is it then? As I said before, it's only when I play this game that my internet connection goes haywire. I'm not attempting to imply that Bethesda is part of the lizard-men NSA and are hacking my interwebs, but this is the only action that has ever caused my internet to just... stop working until I reboot the machine. If my internet goes down, then I notice because I disconnect from everything and when I try to say, go on Chrome, it takes a long time thinking, and then my connection times out. When I was playing this, I would wait maybe 5 seconds before it would tell me that it couldn't find the DNS server. In comparison to waiting for it to time out, this is almost immediate.

Playing this game is the only action that I have ever done on this PC to get it to behave in this manner. That points to something within the game being the issue.

Technically, the game shouldn't have the ability to shut off a connection, true. I wonder if you're running mods, though, or if something got screwed up in your connections.

Oooor if it's like me when trying to play a game called dragons nest i kept on hitting the button to toggle the connection on and off. XD (though at that time i was using a laptop) my f12 was also my wifi button so if your keyboard or using a laptop has that may want to see if that is the issue

I'll take a look through the keybindings, but I'm currently running it off of a desktop. That, and I'm hardwired. My college limits my down speeds to ~5MBps, up speeds to ~1.5MBps. I realize that this is incredibly slow in this day and age, but shouldn't cause an issue on a stable ethernet connection. Also not running mods, just started playing the game two days ago. I'm very impressed with it, other than the fact that I can't play for more than 30 minutes.

Seems awful specific to whenever I play this game. Dude must be watching me through his lizard man spyglass. Damn Argonians.

considering this game's fps seems to be tied to latency, id believe any problem players are having. people are still suffereing the same bugs from launch, cross-platform and they just keep squeezing out the mediocre expansions and in-game real-currency gambling.

hell years later and im still scooting around on my ass across the ground, with my mount nowhere to be seen. should be f2p if we're all being honest.

also comparing this game to Tera is a compliment to Zenimax. theyve sold us a poorly optimized rushed product, compared to the extremely well optimized mmo Tera. That game looks ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gorgeous and even has a slider for max # of rendered players and npc's, this game doesnt have that. Its extremely obvious this is the first mmo theyve ever worked on when its missing graphics options that are extremely key in making this game widly optimized. i had audio lags on xbox, playstation, tried on pc thinking this problem would be gone, it wasnt... infact the pc version is even buggier than the one of the consoles.

From doing a bit of research, I found a lot of posts describing my problem or something like my problem dating 2014 and 2015. I really didn't want to believe that they just hadn't fixed the bugs that came stock with the game all the way through to 2016... The wide optimization I can deal with. Not hard to max the game as it is it seems, but the fact that it's become a frequent issue in my sub 2-3 hours of playing that I get kicked off... eh. Might be refunding. Never going to play a game that I can't play.

The random disconnects are a network issue beyond your computer. It sounds like a de-sync which can happen if an access point isn't wired in to its intended wall outlet.
What this means is that all internet traffic is 'searching' through the rest of the wired area before finally hitting the router, which after a can cause repeated disruption in service.

That is one probable cause I can personally link to a symptom.

well if its a steam buy you wont get your money back if you have played longer then 2 hours
