Xbox 360 controller / Mac - gamepad buttons scrambled

I have gamepad switched on in the gameplay menu and while movement (axis) work fine, all the gamepad button bindings seem to be screwed. I've seen the game print out Xbox button icons for actions on TEOS screen, but for me it shows more like PS4 controller icons. Could be the game doesn't identify my controller correctly, but I don't know how to confirm this.

Gamepad works great on all other Steam games with (even partial) controller support.

Any idea?

There is a way to change that in the ingame menu.Go down to game pad in the menu an you should see an A there you can change layout there A,B an so on

You mean remaping the buttons? Already tried that with no success. The problem is the round action buttons do not work at all in this game. Hence this is really not an issue with controller bindings, but more likely something with the game not recognizing the controller correctly.


As mentioned before, this is the only game in my steam-library that has issues with my controller + wireless receiver.

Maybe the round buttons dont work on mac. But i use a xbox 360 usb controller just fine never had to remap any buttons.I will go in game an look at the menu maybe i can explaine it better.
Go to options,Go to gameplay,Go to Templates mine is set to A an my 360 Controller works fine.But you can change the A to what ever you like. Hope this helps let me know.

The round buttons (A,B,X,Y) work on all other games on Mac. EOS is the only game I'm having issues with. No "Templates" under "Settings/Gameplay" either, so I cannot test it. Thank you for the suggestions, though.

Any other ideas?

I'm having the same problem. I have a wireless XBox 360 controller which works with every steam game except ESO. It seems to recognize it as a PS4 controller so my round buttons (A,B,X,Y) are not detected. Does anyone a way to force ESO to recognize my wireless XBox 360 controller?

I looked at that option, unfortunately, it does not change the type of buttons it’s remapping, so the round buttons(A,B,X,Y) do not get mapped, and so can’t be used in the game.
