Additionaly your mount gets small visual upgrades over time too
If you want to know more about Mounts in ESO you can take a look at my Video guide:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZHqn3pYmms
I think you can actually run faster than your mount at first, never tested it but it sure seems that way.
When I realized how long it takes to train mounts I decided to make a few character classes I knew I wanted to play and just parked them by the stable and logged on to train the mount for a few months. When I got around to playing them they had at least 60 into speed.
When Warden came out it was very hard to go back to the slow mount. That came out last May I think and my two wardens still haven't finished stamina. I go Speed, storage, then stamina....
(and intentionally hobbled like absurd amounts of ingame gold it takes to max out bank and inventory storage) like mount training to get you to buy riding lessons from crown store, or with craftting - trait research takes a loooong time so they hope you will buy research scrolls to speed it up.
How else would they make people part with some extra cash outside of buying the game itself.
Speed is useful only in few situations, like wb hunting in group, PVP in Cyro and such. Any other time you an use wayshrines. Wayshrines everywhere...
Stamina is useful only in PvP, since ZoS dont see a problem in infinite gallop with 0 Stam. More mount's Stamina = more restanse to unhorsing under attack.
So only really useful is stat #3, which is +60 to Bag Inventory.
