Will I ever feel stronger?
Been playing a little over a month as a stam/crit Nightblade and have just gotten to about CP40. My question is will I EVER feel stronger than I currently am? The leveling system in this game feels like less about gaining power, and more a struggle of remaining relevant with my gear that is made irrelevant after 4 levels.

it depends on your stats, gear, weapons, and skills you are using.

Well I'm using medium armor and dual daggers. I'm not really sure what active skills to use because there's a massive pile of skills and only 5 slots. I try to look up guides, but they're all outdated with skills that don't exist anymore

https://alcasthq.com/eso-stamina-nightblade-build-for-pve/

Try that. Alcast pretty much keeps up to date builds for pretty much every class build you can think of.

As you keep gaining CP, yes you will become a bit stronger (because you get more points to distribute into vaious offence and defence stats), but not by much because zos keeps nerfing classes esp nightblade class and its skills, plus stam nightblade is really squishy and the lack of a decent easy to come-by self heal skill is not helping, the only decent burst stam self heal that can be used by nb on demand is tied to pvp assault skill line so you have to go grind pvp points to unlock it.

As for gear, level 50 CP160 is the level cap for gear, once you reach that rank, you will not be outgrowning/outleveling your gear any more, thats when you can start farming/working towards your final gear build, but keep in mind that zos likes to nerf things (skills/gear/classes) alot and very often (lately they have been on a nerfing spree that drasticaly changes gameplay/skills/gear every few months) so dont expect to be able to just get geared up once and for all and not have to worry about it ever again.

ps : About alcast builds, keep in mind that these are builds optimized for group raids where a damage dealer player does not have to worry about self healing or buffs etc cause that is done by other members of the group (healers/tanks).
Therefore, for solo playing, take his builds as an example rather than literally, do not just copy them "word for word' (skill for skill) but rather customize them to fit your playstyle and current level and gear, meaning you will need to slot some kind of self heal and you will need a self buff or two.

Rush to 160 cp. You get weaker as you level untill you hit 160 cp because it's so hard keeping up with gear unless your farming the right areas non stop and getting unrealistic luck. Once your 160 cp though all your gear will be your level forever and you can just work on your character. The right gear, skills and champion points will make a huge difference. I found the game 100x more fun once I got there.

Go get a group and head for DIREFROST KEEP, theres a set of armor in there called Hulking Draugr and it's all about STAMINA and as a nightblade myself, more STAMINA is a big plus does more damage

Thankyou for the helpful advice, everyone. Between the website and knowing about CP160 it's pushed me to keep going!

You can level fast by doing dolmons btw. I leveled very quickly like that. You can wear training gear too to speed it further. But getting to 160 is much faster than just leveling to 50 so it's not bad :)

Also once your 160 then all your characters will instantly be 160 once they hit lvl 50 since champion points are for your entire account, so you won't need to farm them on every character,

For the players who don't know, once you have 1 character to max out at level 50, cp 660, all your new level 50"s will automatically max out. Even starting a NEW character out at level 3, you can max out that level 3 with 660 cp and at level 50- he'll be MAXED.

TRUST me, my level 3's walk through to level 50 with 9 pieces TRAINING gear and dolmen's and 660 cp. EASY.....
