The Elder Scrolls Online

Not enough disk space for installation?
I downloaded this game. It's a whopping 80GB's and now my SSD only has 40GB's left. When I run the game it tells me 80GB is required and won't install because there's not enough space and to 'free up space'. There is no option to change the installation location. I moved the installation files to a different SSD and the same issue occurs - that disk also only has 40GB's free after move and it throws the same error.

How am I supposed to install this game if it requires 160GB's of free space (80GB Steam download + additional 80GB's for install)? I'm not buying a dedicated SSD just for this game...

Nevermind, figured it out. Just moved 60GB's of stuff off that drive temporarily and moved it back.

i swear the ancwer needs to be pinned caz it seems like everyother day someone asks somthing like this

eso dosnt download in one go like most games on steam. the reason is eso isnt on steam (it didnt start on steam, it has its own survers/ browser)

so when your first download ot from steam your only the "day 1" data of eso. when you load up the eso browser it then downloads everything elce.

thats bug fixes, updates AND all the dlcs, even if you dotn have them (its so if you see somone with some dlc items/ class you wont bug out)

You don't understand the issue. The full size of my installation is 87GB's after the initial Steam download AND the ESO extra content download. The installation itself fails unless there's at least 130GB's of free space. There is NO additional data download after this step. Once the space was free the game installed without issue and still remains at 87GB's.

People are asking why the installer requires 50% extra room when the download size and the post-installation size are the same. The only valid answer is that installer is temporarily copying large amounts of data hence the requirement for that much extra storage size.

i understand, you dont

as i seid, steam loads the day one data then the eso broswer downloads the rest. steam dosnt know anything besides day 1 data, so tells you that (the first 87gb). after its all on eso side with all the bug fixes, updates and dlcs

the dlcs are the big part of the 2nd download, being 4-4 (right now 3, soon 4).

and as seid already, mabye read the 30,000+ other posts about this (its prob the most asked thing here). if you cant find it the eso forums may tell you

One of two most asking things on this forum, indeed. Second is "i cant buy ESO+, help".
Its like all of boneheads are too stupid to use search, or they have partly-banned from community functions and not allowed to use search.
There's exactly same topic on same page, just look down a bit before making another one!

You understand what's going on, I had the same issue. This Lucifer guy has no idea what he's talking about, he can barely speak English, let alone comprehend your question and statement.

Let me try explaining to him what the original post was about.

Step 1. Install ESO from Steam, it says I need 81GB.
SSD has 100GB free before install. 19GB after.

Step 2. Click Play. ESO Launcher says I need more space. That I have 19GB remaining and need 80GB.

Step 3. Copy 80GB of stuff to an external. SSD has 99GB free.
Click Launcher, says cool and downloads very little.

Step 4. Copy the 80GB of stuff back to SSD. SSD now has 19GB free.

ESO Folder is 79.3GB.

In other words, this Lucifer guy is a horrible troll who can't comprehend the original post and should never have responded to something out of his league.

He speaks about "little timmys wanting things given to them", yet does not realize you're questioning an obvious programming oversite, and he can't figure out what you meant so he started rambling.

Bad troll is bad and has a severe issue with spelling.

ESO Launcher is incorrectly reporting the required disk space is the issue.

Everything that Lucifer said was mostly incorrect and should be ignored.

Koregasm is an obvious troll. Not just because copying something doubles its size instead of zeroing. If you move game files to external (which i guess he mean), then no files in folder. How the elf Launcher supposed to "download very little" instead of "download all missing files, which is 76GB"? Not mention Step 4.... because what's a point of bringing back outdated files and copying those over updated ones?..

Zenimax Online folder is 76,5GB, 76GB of those is The Elder Scrolls Online folder which is client.

I'd say, install game via Steam, goto game's folder, delete The Elder Scrolls Online folder with client without touching any other files, and download updated client via Launcher.

When can we play EU server ? waiting more then 2 hours ... :S
quarre Nov 13, 2017 @ 2:27am
3rd most frequent topic on this forum, after "how much space i need to install ESO" and "Steam not allow me to purchase ESO+". For nearly 2 years servers goes on maintenance same day same time and offline nearly every week for same hours. I know, 2 years isn't even close enough to learn that Monday is maintenance day, but have you even tried?

For me its 11am - 2pm. Sometimes till 3pm. And its 1:24pm for now, so servers will be offline for 0,5-1,5 more hours.

Check launcher after 35 mins since this message. If launcher download something, it means that login servers are online or will be online any minute. Those can be online even if launcher says servers are offline, so check ingame as well.

Mark one more noob up with the " Lucy can't spell" insult . Plz get a better one and come back. I have seen it all my life. Yes I can't spell very well, never have, prob never will.

I may not be able to spell 100% of the time (mix of fast typing and not always looking what a typed), but I can Google to find an answer that's been asked 50 times a day on this forum. And that's not counting the eso forum or anywhere else.

If your question is a bit different from t he 100+ here say so we know what to look for

So mabye say so next time and not " your a troll. Your dumb. You cant spell" when somone trys to help you. I went out of my way to help you. If I knew you had a stick and your head up your ass i wouldn't of tried :meaty:

As said already. it downloads 2 two times. Steam only sees the first part

Regardless, the fact this apparently comes up so much and so many different people have different answers tells you something could be much done better.
