How to repair the client?
So the launcher for the game seems a bit shaky.

The history:
- Got the game yesterday from Humble Monthly
- Added the key, installed, downloaded the initial ~63GB with no issues except a Bitdefender false positive on eso.exe(?) that I bypassed (should I have been more worried?)
- First run, the launcher did an update and downloaded 5GB or so
- Then it gave an error than manifest could not be downloaded, enabled a big "Repair" button that I pressed.
- Proceeded to verify the previous ~63GB, then started the download of an additional 50GB or so.
- at ~30GB left it was getting late, and I didn't fancy keeping the PC on in my bedroom as I tried to sleep, so I turned it off and decided to resume today.
- Today the download didn't resume, "Play" button is enabled, but of course, something is obviously missing as the game crashes immediately at start.
- I thought I could start the repair process again, but I can't find out how to. There's no "repair" anywhere that I can find.

Any hints? :D

Thanks!

Did you make account with ESO at ESO website ? it is required. Steam knows who you are, but ESO doesn't know you unless you've made account.

Yes, I have the account. It actually dates back to the original beta, although I haven't touched it since then.

Anyway it wasn't an account issue, the client crashed before any login. I couldn't find any way to repair, so in the end I bit the bullet...

I uninstalled everything and repeated the whole process(except Bitdefender didn't complain this time). Good thing I don't have a metered connection XD

Only 1 GB left in the launcher now!

If I may pop in with the Repair answer - it is in the middle area of the Launcher screen, there's a little gear that says GAME OPTIONS - click on that for a short pull-down menu and in there is the Repair utility. Good luck with it - if that doesn't work, you can also try uninstalling and deleting everything and re-downloading a new Launcher/Installer from their website (but that would mean a full re-download unfortunately (loooong); but it may fix/bypass issues having to do with corrupted files).

Hey there!

The size after the installation should be 77.7GB. (24.10.2017)

This is a generic message from me that includes some thing you may or may not have tried already, still give it a look.
Make sure you have:
-A stable internet Connection
-LEGIT copy of Windows
-Meet the minumum requirements of the game

/Have the game on a proper HDD that still functions properly and not abused as hell, that can still properly read and write/

-Set your Steam and ESO location/language accordingly and properly
That you're not restricted of some features/settings because you're not an administrator. etc etc
-Make sure you're running the 64bit version only if you also use a 64bit Windows

-Repair the game from the Launcher under Options

Wish you the best.

A little update.

I have indeed uninstalled/deleted everything and reinstalled. Now the game works fine :)

I *still* don't see the repair option though: https://i.imgur.com/4shNs7q.png
Odd.

Klionh87 did you install from steam or ? The launcher for me does not have the link from the pics Mr Ragnar posted. I can only minimize it and exit no other options.

that link is not ESO launcher page. That is where you download PTS, EU or NA from.
Smecher Oct 28, 2017 @ 11:39am
I ment my launcher doesnt have the repair, server select etc like in the picture from Mr ragnar, it only have minimize , close and install.

Odd.
If I may pop back in, I see you are looking in the Launcher Settings (under the Gear icon in the upper-right corner of the interface) - it is actually accessible in the main window/area, near the center of the interface.

Edit:
You may have to wait for the entire download/installation to finish before you see it (that is just an idea, I am merely guessing as to why you cannot see it yet in your Launcher).

Ah I see, thank you for explaining it - that's odd, as even the Standalone (Web Download) Version of the Launcher has it, in the same place, too (I used it before I linked my Steam Account and still have it installed).

Does the game start fine if you launch it from with the Game Folder, as you stated? As in, can you login and play without issues? Is it just that the Launcher looks different?

You can try going to the Bethesda website and downloading the Launcher from there and installing the Web version (non-Steam version), to see if that creates a clean, new installation of the game, and see if you can login to your Bethesda Account from that... but I see now you say that you don't want to re-download the game again, heh. If you are having troubles playing, you might want to try that though, to get a fresh install (it is just a Suggestion).

NP, I want to know if klionh87 did a reinstall from steam for only 85gb like itswritten on the game page on steam or not, I only have 150gb free and dont want to free space cause of this game. Also if it doesnt work from steam I cant be bothered with it, I dont want to use trash things like ubisoft's origin nightmare programs.

That is a sneaky little menu.

Yes, I just installed from Steam, then after the first boot let the launcher do its thing.

That sounds like the early launcher from the first boot. What happens if you press Install?
Smecher Oct 28, 2017 @ 12:18pm
I didnt press it cause I didnt have the free space :D and after some google answers it looks like it would have install another copy of the game.
