Where do I get weapons

Hi,

The only weapon I have it the one I got at the start and it does nothing against anything after leaving the starting area. I've been to vendors but they don't seem to sell any. Can't do quests as I can damage anything. Can anyone let me know where to get them please.

Don't buy any weapons from any vendor, go to a weaponsmith store and try to steal yourself some weapons

Of course you could buy a weapon or armor from merchants but it is not really necessary. You get a lot of random gear from enemies which you can just use. You can do fine with the weapons you got and you will fast earn new ones:) Later you can craft or farm your own Sets.

there are hundreds of loot chests dotted around the map in every zone, open a few
(will need some lockpicks) and you will find some armor and weapons inside...

Good weapons (and gear) are most easily found in dungeons. Unless you're going for a specific set, one run through a dungeon should get you enough good gear to start out. IIRC, you can start dungeon-ing at level 10 or 15. For now, do delves and world bosses (not alone, of course!) and you should get some good gear there.

You can either buy them from vendors, craft them, have them crafted for you from players, bought from guild vendors, found in chests, dropped off mobs, and found as quest rewards.

If you are really low level (3-15) my best suggestion would be to camp the first Dolmen you find. Wait there until it makes the loud noise and almost every player in the area will rush in. Join in and you'll do just fine. Between the Mob drops and the Dolmen Chest you'll get some really good stuff. It's the easiest way to attain good gear at an extremely low level. If you do this through about 4-5 Dolmen Anchor Drops you'll have a bag full of Green and some Blue gear in no time. You'll also gain a few levels at the same time as Dolmens are good experience as well.
