did you not read what i said, i have already enabled gamepad mode... the issue i am having is that my eso is not responding to my controller at all, it wont even allow me to change settings

Hello, I'm sure you've already fixed your problem by now but I wanted to share my solution anyway. I used to play eso a lot and was happy with controller mode, then after a few month hiatus -- my Xbox One controller no longer worked. It worked fine with every other Steam game except ESO and Skyrim.

It took me a couple days of researching but I've discovered a fix for the problem you're encountering. I'll try to best list my process for fixing it.

The culprit in my case was the Windows 10 Anniversary edition updates adding extra drivers that interfered with the ESO install.

1) Unplug your controller and or the wireless dongle.

2) Go into Device Manager and delete every instance of Xbox Gamepad or XINPUT . There will be some hiding in the HID tree as well as other areas. Take your time and only delete game controllers unless you want to break other system drivers.

3) Get the windows 7/8.1 drivers for the controller. Download and uncompress the rar folder for "Xbox Gaming Device". (I got mine here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4v3f04cmle7rol6/Xbox_Wireless_Adapter_for_Windows_7-8.1_x64_6_3_9600_16384.rar?dl=0 )

4) Look in the device manager window and pay attention to it. Insert your controller via the USB cable and the window will refresh. Left click on the device that just appeared and choose to update driver.

5) Choose "Find a driver on my computer". Navigate to the uncompressed folder you downloaded with the drivers inside. Then pick the driver entitled "Xbox Gaming Device Version 10.0.14393.0". Install and restart if necessary. Your controller should be working now!

Finally, someone gave a good answer!! Unfortunately i don't have an Xbox controller, i have a logitech controller, but i will try what you said to see if it will work anyway. Thanks :)

i used to use logitech f310 with no problem, might want to check button on bottom-side of controller, try switching it. I think it should be on " D "

I play PC/Steam using an xbox one controller, and also play ESO on my xbox. This bug happens on both pc and xbox, therefore, it seems to me it's an ESO issue. I usually can only make it work by ending the game and logging back in. On both.
