Getting maple for oak
So in my crafting writs i am using the second teir items in blacksmithing, woodworking, and clothing, steel and oak for example, and im getting the teir below what i used, iron and oak. I have no clue why its doing this but its very inconvenient and, i feel, unfair does anyone know why this is happening?

Thats the way it works. Forces you to go search for the items you need.

Just bad luck, I guess. You should be getting writs equal to your potency or whatever. The first skill that determines what materials you can use.

make sure you level the first passive in each craft, if you dont it will keep giving you a tier lower to what you actually want

abandon writ, then go get it back, and it will match the level your craft is actually at.

I have the skills for making things out of steel and oak and stuff, and thats what i turn in. my character is level 20, and im at least level 10 in my crafting professions.

If I understand you correctly. You are saying that when you turn in your completed writ, in woodworking or blacksmithing, the craft box reward contains a lower level metal or wood than what you are crafting with. I have done a couple of hundred writs in blacksmithing and woodworking and have NEVER had the box contain my current level metal or wood in it. It has allways been 1 or 2 levels below what I use. I am currently using dwarven ore and beech.
Same goes for all my other skills except potions. I usually get the current water I am using.
