Mouse randomly accelerates to the max speed
I am having what seems to be a common issue with ESO through Steam. My mouse randomly accelerates to the maximum speed to where it is EXTREMELY difficult to play. I have searched online but the game settings have no effect on the issue and resetting/uninstalling/reinstalling my mouse driver did not fix the issue. I found a post where people where stating launching for the .exe directly fixed the issue but I am unable to do so as the game tells me that I bought it through Steam and most launch through Steam. Is there a fix for this issue?

turn off mouse acceleration in windows
and buy a gaming mouse that you can set the speeds that load when you boot the game

I have the logitech g303 and mouse acceleration is off in windows the driver it only does this on ESO for some reason. It isnt consistent either it just randomly jumps 180 degrees at the slightest mouse movement then its back to normal for a little and does it again. I tried changing the CPU allotment to normal or below normal turning v syns or antiliasing on or off. I'm out of ideas. : /

Only other thing I can think of is maybe dust or dirt in the mouse sensor. Mine gets hard to see dog hair in it and it sends it for a loop kind of like you describe. Make sure your computer is off before you look in it or it can permanently burn your eye.

I tried cleaning the whole thing still does it lowering the dpi helped for a little but is worse now then before.

Got exacly the same problem. I don't think it's problem with mouse, tried 2 different models, it must be something else.
I read somethere that it can be problem coused by addons, but disabled everything and problem still exist.

I've never had addons but I found a fix that worked for me. I lowered my mouse DPI to 300 and then upped my mouse sensitivity in windows and the game to the max so it was still playable with such low DPI. Hasn't done it since so I'm guessing the game has a DPI issue.

DO NOT change mouse pointer settings IN WINDOWS EVER !!!
The setting shoud always be at the middle ( i believe its 6 notches ) and dont forget to DEACTIVATE ENHANCE POINTER PRECISION, otherwise it WILL give you mouse ACCELERATION which you want to avoid at all costs.

Mouse acceleration works like this : the faster you move the mouse - the more distance the coursor moves across the screen and vice versa - the slower you move the mouse - the less the cursor moves across the screen.
Ideally you want your mouse cursor to move the same distance no matter how fast or slow you move the mouse.

I found out was it was for sure! Even after changing my mouse setting it would still do it just not as dramatically but then to keep my computer cooler i capped the fps to 60 and the mouse problem vanished. When i uncapped it my mouse went crazy again so i'm assuming its the fps. I have a 144hz monitor so it would go to above 60fps but using rivatuner statics server i can cap frames really easily. Hopefully that helps anyone also having issues with it if they run it above 60 fps.

I encountered the same issue when I opened the game with razer cortex, it disappeared when I closed it and never happened again.

If it helps you all, I run the launcher from C:/ instead of from my steam library. This alone removes the problem. However, side effects include no steam overlay as well as not getting steam achievements.

I know for sure because i had the same problem. This fix worked for me. In fact, I think the game runs faster as well.

You don't need to do THIS NEXT STEP, but I do THIS as well. The next step is not for fixing the mouse. The above comment fixes that already. I just feel that this next step helps MY RIG run the game a little bit quicker and smoother, just a tad, and of course, I could be partial to it. I get frustrated with slow framerates in cities and/or after half an hour of gameplay.

I launch the executable using CPU Cores, which you can get on steam. I don't launch the launcher, but the executable itself from the NON STEAM table in that program. I have to browse and find it on my computer. Every time you end the game, you click "Stop CPU Cores" to end the optimizations. However, remember to check the patcher outside of the program before you use it each time just in case you need to download a patch first.

Seriously I know this thread is old but this is a very annoying bug... If you have ANY mouse that uses razer synapse completely close it. Unplug from usb and plug it into a front usb port or a different usb port on the back and let the basic windows drivers install fixed the issue for me no idea why or how.

If anyone with the same problem stumbles across this thread, the problem occurs while you're sitting at the default cap of 100fps.
Fix:
In UserSettings.txt (likely in your documents folder/library).
SET MinFrameTime.2 "x"
Where x is 1 / max desired fps, 0.005 for me, for 200 fps cap.

I was searching for the solution for a while. This worked. Thank you!

I went with 60 fps max limit instead, which is SET MinFrameTime.2 "0.01680000"
and it works a LOT better now (though not perfectly from what I can tell - but it's fine 90% of the time and when it does go all speedy it's barely noticeable)
