[SOLVED] Launcher Loading... FOREVER
The game with not launch through Steam. When I click on the ESO shortcut on my desktop, the launcher opens into a blank window except the word "Loading..." That's where it stays. I let it sit there for about 4 hours yesterday. I can open the game with eso64.exe, but I'm thinking this won't suffice longterm becuase I need to be able to apply new patches as they come.

The whole problem started for me after updating to the pre-play with download extras for the new Morrowind. Everything was fine the first night as I was able to click "Play" from the browser. The next day, I'm having these problems. HELP PLEASE!

Steam Support on this site walked me through a potential problem. It pormpted me to "Verify the integrity of game files".

Right click on the game in your library.

Left click on Properties.

Left click the tab labeled Local Files in the top middle.

Left click on the bottome tab labeled "Verify Integrity of Game Files"

I ran a check and found 248 files corrupted or missing. I forget the exact wording.

Right now, it is downlaoding some stuff that was found to be messed up in that game folder.

Maybe someone else is going to need this if you have been having problems with the pre-ordered digital download of the NEW Morrowind for ESO. I have had a three day weekend and should have been able to pre-play the new area. I've spent half my gaming time troubleshooting or bypassing the launcher with eso64.exe.

This has been a lot of work for something I have put so much money into. Sheesh. Hope it works.

Steam is now dowloading to fix whatever files are messed up. It's going to be 43g of information. That will take several days on my internet speed. I cannot use the game while the downloads are taking place. So much for a pre-purchase pre-play. Oh, well.

awwww, man this sucks
18 GB or 43 GB installed at 100 KB/s

This pre-play is a joke that has put me into download purgatory because I'm a loyal fan.

I'm totally convinced you are right.

After finishing verifying files with Steam, me launcher still wouldn't work. It wouldn't open through Steam or my desktop shortcut. I did open it through zosSteamStarter.exe. Now, the launcher is open and updating with 7579 MB left to go. We will see what happens in another day. So much for pre-purchase pre-play. I'm reading a book. :D
zosSteamStarter.exe

This is how was finally able to patch after verifying files through Steam. This issue of communication between Steam and ZOS is resolved and they recognize that I did in fact pay for Morrowind.

I found a fix for my case, maybe will work out for you guys too!

Meow Mix (Steam):
"Looks like this is a problem with Windows 7 not enabling TLS 1.1 by default for the WinHTTP API. Zenimax must have updated the launcher site today.

I was able to get things to work by applying the fix in KB 3140245: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/update-to-enable-tls-1-1-and-tls-1-2-as-default-secure-protocols-in-winhttp-in-windows-c4bd73d2-31d7-761e-0178-11268bb10392.

Specifically I had to install the "Easy Fix" link https://download.microsoft.com/download/0/6/5/0658B1A7-6D2E-474F-BC2C-D69E5B9E9A68/MicrosoftEasyFix51044.msi

to make the necessary registry updates, NOT just download the Windows update itself.

EDIT: Fixed the auto links."

All thanks for this AMAZING guy!!!!!

This thread should be pinned, I´ve had to look for it to find the link to the "easy fix" file already 3 times during this month, the "play" botton keeps dissapearing from my launcher.
