Report a translation problem
1. You can build the specific corp building to craft influence: 1 research doc -> 1 influence doc.
2. You can build influence of another corp with an extra cost depending on their relation. E.g.: Crafting blue influence from green will cost you 3 green influence (since they are "friends"), crafting yellow will cost 5.
3. You can purchase influence wildcards up to colony level 3 in the corp market(tech) you chose affinity with.

So i guess i have to do it the long way around and get it myself. Its just that my energy doesnt manage those buildings.
I want acces to yellow things on market energy things. it feels like i am stuck in a loop. and cant move on..
The wildcard thing i will take a look on cause money i have plenty of.

Easier to learn and have a bit more fun with that option.
yellow, blue and purple corporations are CLOSED in the market.
The buildings for those corporations are not selectable. They CANNOT BE BUILT.
Mouse-over closed corps says "to open research diplomacy with this corp."
So how is that done??????????
SO FRUSTRATED
While to unlock/improve most of the technologies you need Invention/Investigation docs produced in the Research Lab, for the Diplomacy technologies, you will need "Influence docs" which are produced in the Corp buildings.
You can use a Corp building to produce:
Diplomacy level 1: Influence of its own color or transform its color (at a cost of 2) into white color.
Diplomacy level 2: Research core docs.
Diplomacy level 3: Develop influence from a friend corp. (will cost 3 influence to convert into a friendly one).
Diplomacy level 4: Develop influence from a "neutral" corp. (will cost 4 influence)
Diplomacy level 5: Develop influence from an "enemy" corp. (will cost 5 influence)
Diplomacy level 6: Allows you to build another Corp building in your colony.
But this process will take time.
To obtain influence from start (but expensive), you can purchase "Wildcard influence", which is a special item available at the Corp you chose affinity with market-Tech tab. *Wildcard Influence item will be available only until colony reaches level 5, however this will change when we implement the new Reputation System.
Regarding lack of help, we ask for patience here since we can't really jump into it until things get finished. We already have to change many of the current tutorials to adapt to the incoming changes.
About diplomacy, we promise a full guide as soon as the new rep system is up. Which we hope it happens in few weeks.

So I get that I must build a corporate building to research diplomacy.
But my corporate buildings cannot be selected. They are greyed out and clicking on them in the "build" menu does nothing.
Must I do something else to make this menu available??
The only corporate building I can build is "green" which is my affiliation. Should I build THAT ONE? yellow is what I think I need.

It is an incredibly awesome game. I love it. It's just very frustrating trying to learn by pieces here and there.

Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle here. You need diplomacy research to build a corp HQ, you need corp influence to unlock diplomacy research, you need corp HQ to produce influence.
Right now you can buy "wildcard influence" from your faction market. Ctrl-right click it once it's bought, and you can transform it into any influence.
Also works well if you just need a bit of influence to level your colonists, but doesn't want to build another HQ.
Speaking of which... can you swap the HQs at least?! I find myself unable to build Cosmos HQ despite having the diplomacy research and requisite materials, even if I deconstruct existing HQ.
How in the earthname do i lock up yellow things on market. I already have so i can build green although some materials are locked out so i cant realy build it.
Step by step now. How do i lock up yellow market ? Please anyone.
Consider me realy stupid here when you try to explain cause i am sure i havent understand some thing in this game and that makes me not seeing what you guys see.
and how to get yellow influence? there are few ways how to get them:
a) most easiest, if you had a low level colony (level 1-3) buy wildcard influence
b) each company allows you manufacture different corporation influnce if you had a corespondent level of diplomacy update... For instance i will use green corporation...
level 2 of diplomacy update allows you to craft research core docu, level 3 will alows you to craft cosmos infuence, at level 4 you will be allowed to craft conservatives infuence and finnaly at level 5 you will had chance to craft neo industrial infuence (yellow)... you will also pay corespondent (higher) price for crafting others infuences but you will had a chance...
of course you will need at least one colored infuece to start this chain....
I CANNOT EVEN BUILD THE CORP BUILDINGS. SO THERE'S NO WAY TO RESEARCH DIPLOMACY.
I CANNOT USE ANY OF THE OUTER PLATFORMS CAUSE THEY NEED "HUB SOMETHING" WHICH I CANNOT BUY AT MARKET CAUSE REINFORCED WIRING AND THE OTHER THING AREN'T IN THE MARKET... BECAUSE YELLOW CORP SELLS THEM

Are you really sure that you use production schema ?
if you had one infulence form a start, you had no problem...
Open technology slidebar, open yellow, and then on a right side there is diplomacy (in the center of a right ), click on it and click yes .. there you go, you had opened possibility to build corp building, but thats not all, you wil also need a corespondent blueprint, whitch could be crafted in a programming lab, craft yellow blueprint and then with ctrl +left click transform it into corp blueprint,, everythinf else could be found in a production schema, make sure that you useing it and also there is a in-game help press F2 and then move missing things in a correspondet window...
else if you had money buy wildcard infuence and with ctrl + left mouse click transform it into a required infuence

Here's what I was missing and perhaps some others as well
I thought researching diplomacy had to do with "building" that corp's building then researching diplomacy there.
Did not realize there is a "Technology" button in the same menu where the "build" and "food" buttons are.
Open THAT and click on the corp you want to research.
Then research diplomacy opens their store
I appreciate the help but you guys were explaining x-y-z and I was asking about a-b-c. I couldn't even GET TO where to do what you were talking about. Makes sense now.

I have the same problem. I play 2.96 and dont get access to the yellow market. I m Green and on the market there are no Wildcards... so I stuck. I cant build the Green Corp Buildin cos I need matirial from the Yellow market which cost Influence ... I guess there is even no chance to rise to the next level where I need 2 White Influence.
anyone a suggestion how to get Yellow influence without wildcard to build the Green Corp Building?
