Assetto Corsa EVO

Assetto Corsa EVO

Is the game playable with controller ?
I am a casual gamer and want to try AC Evo. But I dont have a wheel nor I plan to have one. I was just wondering if the game is playable with an xbox controller. I think it supports controller. What I meant is that can I get good with a controller or have a fairly enjoyable experience.

Yeah I used my SCUF controller and it works fine. I would imagine they knew most people would play this with a controller.

Xbox one controller works great and you will be able to have fun, limited fun atm but totally playable. You will need to rebind the gear selection buttons if you like A & X and it can be a little frustrating at first to work out the settings but once you do it's a walk in the park

Have you successfully rebound handbrake? I can't get it to go to a different place.

Yes, got it to work on B and another helpful poster here said that after you rebind you have to change the option from Press to Constant or Hold so it's like holding down the button like you would pull on a handbrake, it's in the properties somewhere (can't remember off the top of my head as the options are messy to say the least ;)

Perfect. I just went and figured this out and came back to post it. Yeah, changing the setting to CONSTANT is what does it for the non-axis handbrake,
I'm definitely getting there with my preferred settings (Elite Series 2) by using the ones in the link as a starting point...

I haven't played with a standard Xbox controller yet though. The ES2 settings also let you change the stick sensitivity curve, which plays a big part.

The other things that help with the controller are the view settings. Drop it back a couple of positions and maybe a bit of pov and the drivers arms don't go crazy, then play around with the whatever they call it steering look, I call it look to Apex but it's more a drift cam and hopefully look to Apex is added (like PCARS 2), anyway set that at 30% and then smooth it and it will give you more feeling of G's, too high and you will lose it if you get too sideways but tune it in and it really helps when using a controller

Thanks for sharing Lens. Great tip. Will definitely have a play around with this later.

Glad to hear this. I'll buy this game and surely play a lot when it fully releases.

I wonder if controller players could compete with wheel players in terms of track times?

Went in to have another play and in the view settings "look with wheel" I have set at 20% with a LWW SMOOTH at 60% and a FOV at 80%

It really comes down to what you like and when out on practice just pause and go to view settings then go max on some and see what they do and then you can dial them back.

Hope it helps

whats the point of playing a simulator with a controller? this is not the game for that, its not worth it nor is the last one. get a wheel, shifter, maybe a handbrake and then play the game. otherwise what are we talking about here when you say "get good at the game on controller"?

Totally, as long as you learn the game. The more hours in on whatever device will make you good... plus knowing the tracks is also extremely helpful.

Some say that Simulation Racers need to have this and that and I call bull, It's totally what you feel best with period
