It's definitely playable like both those games, more realistic so it's more of a challenge but it's by far better than the controller on the original Assetto
With enough training you sholud be able to control the car, but no...it is not als enjoyable as in Forza an GT7.
1) You can't assign a modifier button to increase the number of buttons. There's probably a bug there. This will not allow you to assign control over all the electronics of the car, because there will not be enough buttons without a modifier.
2) Steering assist weight works very poorly. With 0% the control is extremely redundant, and with 1+% it's too slow and sluggish. In ACC the steering assistant, which was enabled in the steering settings, worked much better, although not ideally due to the lack of settings.
Considering all this + the civilian focus of the cars, control in ACE is much more difficult than in ACC
Remove the Steering Assist Weight, it interferes too much.
Massive difference, AC EVO has really good Physics and handling and FFB
you will love it on your wheel 100x more .... your kinda throwing away its Massive PRO using a controller
controller felt worst than GT & Forza, it feels like it was designed for a wheel like every other KUNOS game... but it is doable
ACE drives with the controller like you're driving the car off the edge of a cliff, it's terrible to play with the controller, 0 fun.
if you're a controller player, stick with Gran turismo 7.
after a few fiddling through? YES definitely friendlier than previous ACs
I tried both and controller still playable
i plugged in the xbox gamepad, and jumped onto a track, it was drivable out of the box without doing anything.
im on wheel, so i dont know how good or bad it should feel on joypad.
it was drivable and i was able to doing laptimes with stock joypad settings.
In FM and GT7 I can be very aggressive with full steering inputs but they are also nicely weighted with smaller inputs. AC Evo seems to be trickier with both.
I like using Laguna Seca as a test track because it is not too long but has a good variety of corners. Higher "filter" setting makes the steering less sensitive and easier to control on the faster sections however makes the wheel turn too slowly for sharp changes of direction like the corkscrew and tighter corners like the hairpin. Lower "filter" makes changing direction quicker and easier but then it is far too sensitive with smaller inputs. The default of 20 actually seems pretty good - any higher seems to make the steering too slow and lower is too twitchy.
I found the "curvature" setting helps the most to make the smaller movements smoother but at the cost of accuracy in the middle of the axis. It makes the stick less linear, so moving the stick 50% only sends a 30% input (not sure on the exact number but that is an example. The downside is that it very quickly ramps up to the maximum input after you pass halfway on the axis.
I personally upped this from the default 20 to 40 to better control small movements but the rest of the default setup is unchanged.
Edit - The "assistance" setting might be broken at the moment, it is either on or off. 1-100 seem to make no difference. I keep it on because if it is off the wheel return to centre is very slow and you basically have to let go of the stick when you hit the apex for it to centre by the corner exit which I find really unnatural and strange. Countersteering is also much slower and more difficult.
Thank you for the Curvature tip! So much easier to recover from a slide now
