Mini map of track during race
I can't find any option to show a mini map of the current race track during a race anywhere. I'm driving with all assists off, but this i really can not drive without, it would take me way too long to memorize all the curves etc.. any idea if this is intended to stay this way? :/

hopefully not. my guess is something in the hud options that we can't access until they fix the servers

get gud

get something in your existence that you can actually be proud of so you don't have to be in favour of gatekeeping nonsense like this
Same - hard to believe there's no track map in AC Evo. In 'regular' AC it was even customizable out-of-the-box via the config file, love having the curves for reference visually as well as the 'name' of the curve for the really famous tracks.

Another vote for track maps coming back in AC Evo!
Old guy here. I view memorizing the track as productive brain exercise.

Pro racers can do much more. They can run the track in their head. Someone clicks a stopwatch, they start a lap, put their hand up when they've finished the lap. Getting the laptime right within a second is common.

So, memorize the track. You'll be faster if you do. Guaranteed.

There is no minimap because in the future we will need not a minimap, but a full-fledged road navigator.
I'm sure they'll add the option for a mini-map.

While I don't disagree with the general sentiment of your post, the minimap is not just about knowing what turns are coming up. It's also about getting an idea of where other cars are in relation to you. It may not be totally realistic to have this information available in real-time during a race, but it makes the game more enjoyable for more people. More options for the player is a good thing. 👍

The time and positions are already there, you don't need a map for that.

A time/position chart does not convey data in the same way that a track map does. The visual presentation of a track map can be easier to digest quickly to get a sense of spatial relationships around the track and between cars, as opposed to looking at a stack of numbers.

I don't understand why you would argue against having more options for the UI. If you don't like it, disable it and don't use it. But why not have it there for people who do want it?

I am not against it, don't take it that way. The map will definitely appear, there is no need to even remind you about it. I am just telling you that it is not needed in the ring in principle. Having ridden a few laps in training, you will remember the entire track. And now, when you compete with rivals as strong as you, how do you think you will be able to reduce the gap by at least 7 seconds? You will look at the map and hit the wall)))

I can only speak for myself, but that is not what I use the track map for. I use it to see, for instance, that there's a stopped car in sector 2. Or that I'll be coming up on lapped traffic a few turns from now. That's what I mean by quickly determining spatial relationships. Which is not always so easily gleaned from looking at a bunch of numbers.
To be honest you are better driving without it. I played racing games for years with the minimap on I found I spent too much time looking at it and found I never really learned the tracks properly. Once I started turning it off, I actually started to focus and learn the tracks, knowing what corners were coming up. The map is just a distraction.
