Assetto Corsa EVO

Assetto Corsa EVO

Settings Guide
The main problem I'm seeing is people trying to run DLAA + 8x MSAA at the same time. That's insane.

Specs:
RTX 4080
i9 11900KF
32GB DDR4 3200
NVME

I run 3840x2160 resolution w/ DLSS set to Quality (1440p internal res)

You can copy my settings if you're on say a xx80 GPU or better and never drop below 60FPS.

Display Settings:

Resolution: 3840x2160 (don't copy this if you're not on a 4k display)
Gameplay Frame Rate Limit: 120FPS (I'm on a 120hz display so no need to exceed)
Vertical Sync: OFF (I'm on a VRR display so no need to enable UNLESS screen tearing is an issue)
Triple Screen: OFF (Single display for me but rest of settings should still help those on triple monitor setups)

Graphics Settings:

Graphics Preset: Custom

Upscaling:

Upscaling Mode: DLSS (Try FSR on AMD rigs)
DLSS Preset: Quality (this will be an internal res of 1440p upscaled back to 4k if you're on a 4k display)

Anti Aliasing:

MSAA: OFF (We are using DLSS or FSR which is reconstruction and handles anti aliasing, so no need for MSAA which is SUPER heavy on GPU)

Texture:

Anisotropic Filtering: ULTRA (This is the lightest setting in any graphcics menu and any modern GPU all the way back to 10 series can max this out)
Texture Pool Size: ULTRA (I'm on a 16GB VRAM GPU and have had no problem with this setting. If you have lower VRAM than me may need to lower this setting)

Level of Detail:

Level of Detail: ULTRA (xx70 cards and up should have no problem running this but it could also effect VRAM usage, so keep that in mind)
Experimental Static Level of Detail: OFF (This is a lower quality LOD setting that may help with lower end rigs but doesn't look AS good EDIT: was wrong about this. This seemingly allows you to adjust the static object LODs like buildings or objects in the environment).
Vehicle Level of Detail: ULTRA (again, modern GPU's should have no problem running this at ULTRA)

Lighting:

Global Illumination Update Frequency: ULTRA (This settings effects the accuracy of the lighting while in game racing. Global Illumination is the closest thing to ray traced lighting you can get and is a heavy setting)
Ambient Occlusion: Ultra (Handled by your GPU and not THAT heavy of a setting)
Volumetrics: Ultra (Handles things like clouds, smoke, dirt debris, etc and can be somewhat heavy)

Reflections:

Environment Reflections: High (Haven't been able to tell if RT reflections are used at all or just screen space, but it doesn't seem to have crazy accurate reflections so High should be fine)
Car Reflections: Ultra (May have high performance inpact so this may be a setting to lower for weaker systems)

Shadows:

Shadows: ULTRA
Experimental Sim Shadows: ON (Good setting to turn off if you're having major perf issues)
Screen Space Shadows: FULL RES as this is a light setting to run

Environment

Grass Density: ULTRA
Clouds Quality: ULTRA

These two settings likely have little to no impact on performance but I haven't tested or needed to test them.

Post Processing:

All personal Preference and has no perf impact

MSAA has no effect when any form of upscaling is turned on, stop yapping

It can still be toggled on and not greyed out, so if you disable upscaling and forget about it now you're running 8x msaa. Regardless it needed to be mentioned because I saw people trying to run DLAA and 8x MSAA which goes to show this post needed to be made. Grow up.

That's quite literally why people are crying about the game running bad. They don't even know what the settings mean or do. Regardless if it does nothing while activated at the same time its an indication people need a guide. Doesn't make a difference if the rest of my guide is helpful. You're hyperfixated on one thing and trying to troll. Again, grow tf up troll.

Went from 95fps to a locked 120 with this, cheers :)

Awesome! Thanks for sharing
you said volumetrics handles smoke uhh idk if no ones noticed but this game has zero tire smoke or debris or any particles all go off track no dirt or dust or rocks kick up same with grass do a burnout for a hour and not even a peep of smoke... not even smoke from exhaust...

Works great if im doing solo sessions. 80+ fps. But as soon as I add more than 5 cars, the FPS drops below 60.....

Im using RTX 3080, Ryzen 5800x.

I put all settings low as possible, turn off the mirros and this game still is slower than ACC.

Interesting. I don’t have much time with the game yet but that’s typically what volumetric would handle smoke, fog, possibly debris. But I swore I saw something kick up under the cars in front of me a few times. Maybe it was some kind of distant artifact lol. Idk. I just know that’s what the setting exists for.
Thanks for such detailed explanation. Now I know a bit more about DLSS, MSAA. I am new to gaming and learning all these are very important. I appreciate your effort. Will come back from holiday and try to play with my settings and give feedback. Maybe it will help other people too.

Hey, thanks for acknowledging the effort. That's really all this was, a quick effort in hopefully spreading some knowledge, even if its not entirely black and white across the board. There's defnitely some useful tips in there.
