Assetto Corsa EVO

Thank you Kunos, here's some 0.1.1 Feedback
The good:

- The driving feels solid. There's more nuance than AC and other games, the cars feel heavier / more realistic without losing maneuverability, and I'm excited to see how this develops with other types of cars as more get released.

- The tracks look good. This is probably my biggest 'gripe' about AC, everything can be made to look pretty great with CSP, but glancing over at some of the tracks while driving and seeing awkward trees / bystanders / textures / sharp corners can pull me out of the immersion quite a bit. The graphics settings & performance might not quite be there yet in EVO to get the most of the environment's visuals, but the tracks really do look good. Glancing off in the distance, it feels like you're really there.

- The menu is better. it definitely struggles with performance, and needs tweaking, especially when more content gets added, but for me, it's a big step up from AC. I've gotten very used to using CSP, and I can see some inspiration from that here in EVO.

- The AI is better. They're not great, they'll still bump me from behind in turns even if I have nowhere to go with another car right in front of me. I got pit-maneuvered a couple times already, but overall they do feel smarter, and I'm spending more time door to door when passing (or being passed) compared to AC.

- Driving over the kerbs is not a death-trap like it is in AC. It's not every car in AC, but for many of them, you barely touch a kerb and risk losing it (at least I do), and this seems to be a lot better in EVO. I've only had one moment so far where a kerb grabbed me and spit me out, but other than that, the cars I've tried seem to handle them a lot better.

The bad:

- Overall performance. The menu (while good as mentioned above) does feel laggy and sluggish most of the time, especially trying to navigate through settings. The game itself can feel okay during a race's duration (I don't have VR), but can have random lag-spikes, slow-downs, and generally doesn't always stay smooth throughout a race. Especially when I try adding more cars to the track. I love in AC finding tracks with 30 + pits, I'm struggling to see how that will be possible in EVO with how it currently is, even with tweaking and minor improvements. Alt-tabbing out of the game and back can really tank performance too (and not just while in a race).

- The controls & settings, oof. Just finding them was a bit of a chore, but then a bunch of little things too like having to invert pedals, having to make sure 'look back' doesn't glance back for a split second and actually 'holds the look', it feels unrefined. Not really major considering it's early access, but enough of a headache to make the 1st couple hrs more frustrating than they needed to be. Also, needs some more detailed wheel settings. In CSP for AC you can change settings and then turn the wheel or press the pedals to see how they're affected. Here in EVO, you only know once you're driving.

- The AI is better than AC, but still needs some work imo. Overly bad entries to turns because they're next to someone, popping onto the grass randomly when it's not necessary, same sometimes with bumping into walls (Laguna Seca right at the finish line every time on Race Start for example). I do hope to see the AI evolve a bit as we get closer to 1.0

Other little things:

- The right-side rear view mirrors don't work? And for that matter, the main rear-view mirrors in the cockpit seem to be off. Maybe I just need to mess with FOV a bit more, but in cars where I can see some of it, it's not very helpful for looking straight back, and I'd rather not use the virtual mirror.

- Bumping into a car in a turn because they brake sooner than expected can instantly send me tail-spinning into the grass / barriers.

- Loading the car's setup menu before a Race can take a while to load, I hope that gets improved. The whole pre-race menu, like the game menus, feels sluggish and laggy.

-edit- As I keep playing, I'll keep adding other little things:

- Sounds are good, but when other cars scrape against each other or the wall, it seems more ‘global’ than coming from them.

- (Green) flags can look glitchy (mostly observed on Panorama in the esses), as in on approach they’re moving for a split second, then suddenly they’re not. There’s no in between animation.

- The road textures often suddenly change to low quality for a few moments at a time.

- Opponent side mirrors don’t show anything, basically a solid color that kind of changes shades.

-No track map for the HUD? Unless I’m missing it in Settings somewhere. Same for changing from kmh to mph in the speedometer.

- No way to see my and opponents’ (best) lap times after the race?

But overall:

Thank you Kunos, I thinks it's a great start and am really looking forward to seeing how it develops & evolves, especially free-roam (and hopefully traffic).

they have a lot work to do. trees disappear or flicker, trees and grass not moving, no smoke effects, perfomance is bad but i hope they fix this without downgrade in graphics (gt7 looks a lot better and have raytracing), the menu is not good. to many klicks to do for one setting change (car select for exaple) also, why all color variations in one menu? scrolling all the time is teribble.

To get the mirror to work set them to single mirror. I am running triple screen and couldn't get the right mirror to work until I set mirrors to single and now they work. Only thing is that you can't get rid of the virtual mirror.

I'd like to add if Kunos ever reads this: The menu could be a bit more efficient - Too many clicks and menu transitions (which have a slight delay to load each one).

For example, you could have drop down menus for selecting garage/rentals and other options. Also, having to back out of customization screen AND the garage/rental screen to return back to the race menu seems unnecessary. Just have a "accept" button or something on the custom menu instead of having to press back->back.
