Assetto Corsa EVO

Assetto Corsa EVO

My First Impressions and Feelings After 4 Hours
Hello, community!

After playing for 4 hours on the first day of release, I can confidently say this is a true Kunos product and a worthy successor to the original Assetto Corsa (not the Competizione). I'm glad I had the opportunity to test this early access version on its debut day. During my session, I managed to try nearly every car and all four tracks available.

Simulation
The physics simulation is excellent. You can feel the difference in each car's weight and behavior, particularly how weight shifts during cornering and braking.

However, I wasn't impressed with the road tire models. It feels like every road car is equipped with racing slicks—they have so much grip that it feels unrealistic. I hope this is addressed in the final version of the game.

The driving assistance is well-designed for new or casual players, but it took me a while to figure out how to disable some features (e.g., steering assistance is located in the controller setup).

Graphics
The graphics are impressive, and I was able to play with everything set to Ultra.

That said, there are some missing details, like effects and particles (e.g., smoke, rumble, pebbles, more detailed foliage, and grass). These are minor issues, as the core visual elements are solid.

One issue I noticed was with the internal mirrors. Even after adjusting them, they didn't align correctly, especially the center mirror.

UI
The UI needs significant improvement.
The menus feel slow and are not very user-friendly, particularly when it comes to the controller setup.

On the positive side, a standout feature is the ability to walk around your car directly from the menu—a nice touch!

Sound
The sound design is outstanding—immersive and high-quality.

However, there are some repetitive effects (e.g., the Fiat Abarth's high-rev sound). Adding more variations would improve the experience, but overall, the audio is excellent.

Performance
I have a fairly powerful system, and I encountered no issues running the game on Ultra settings, even with 30 opponents on track.

Controller
The UI for controller configuration needs refining.
As a gamepad user, I found it challenging to set up and fine-tune my controls properly.

Conclusion
Despite some rough edges, this early access version shows a lot of potential. With further polish, it could become another fantastic addition to the Kunos lineup.

Wow......it seems your the only person who gets to play the game. I guess you have the Kunos golden ticket....

Well, for me the game is not that good!

The feeling of speed is not present, the speed at 1 km/h is the same as 200 km/h (The car moves at a constant low velocity.... The asphalt "motion" behaves as there is no velocity changes and so the sceneary :-( ). Everthing is slow motion including the hands...
I only have an XBox Controller and the cars are hard to turn left/right - it seems that it can go only in straight line.

It has been a terrible experience; far from the other Assetto games where the feel of speed is present.

Cars appear and disappear from the rear mirror.

Not to mention the bad VR implentation.

Absolutely true! Road cars seem to be running on magical ultra-sticky slicks, especially on the front axle. It's far from realistic.
had a lot of fun with the escort in laguna seca...ye a lot of things missing, but we all knew it was going to be like this. played 3 hours, performance side im getting between 100 and 160 fpps..with a 5700x paired with a 3070ti, ultra on visuals, but driving alone.

I use one XBox controller too. I had to adjust mine in game controls to better fit my driving style.

same here, im understeering into every turn feeling like im going 30 , but then i look at my speedo and it says im going 180 ...what?
Weight shifting is great and very realistic. The tires though feel waaaaay off. Understeer is very prominent in every car I’ve tried. Feels like a Forza game tire physics which is not a good thing.

I think the problem for me is the XBox controller. Using the keyboard work way better and feels more like a racing game!
