Assetto Corsa EVO

Assetto Corsa EVO

RTX 3060ti sweet spot 60fps, great looking, fast, smooth settings!
A few hours of tinkering to get good looking and 60+ fps...... nailed it.

Rational
===========
I normally straight for 2K with DLSS etc etc on most titles and can selectively lower fps killers.
2K in this game, the cars are beautiful even on low-mid settings for reflections etc.
Back to 1080 for testing and yes cars are nice, but not that crisp sharp, awesome, so you hanker for 2K again........but, I found a way and it's good!

Just could not quite get some other things they way I wanted it in 2K. So I start from scratch and gauge the fps variations to settings and go into 1080 no DLSS and work my way up to get it looking great and at a much more forgiving resolution, turn some niceties on (lighting etc). Results were actually much better than anticipated. :-)

PC Spec
============
AMD 5600X @ 4.8GHz (no Overclock)
RTX 3060ti 8GB DDR5
16GB 3800MHz Dual 2x8

My Best Settings, real good results (as they appear on menus)
====================================================
Here are my GPU settings on the RTX 3060ti for good looking and great driving..... you can thank me later ;-) :-

Set 144fps limit as that is my Native for monitor and 144 set in Windows

1920x1080
Full Screen
VSYNC = OFF
DLSS = Ultra Quality
MSAA = x4
Anisotropic Filtering = High
Texture Pool Size = High
Vehicle Detail = High
Ambient Occlusion = High
Volumetrics = Medium
Environmental Reflections = High
Car Reflections = High
Shadows = High
Screen Space Reflections = 1/2 Resolution
Grass = Medium
Clouds = Medium
Depth Of Field = Medium
Motion Blur = OFF
Mirror = Single
Mirror Resolution = High
Mirror View Distance = High

This get's me what I want. The cars looking like they are back in 2K res (the x4 MSAA helps that, with the added bonus of higher distance away before they start blurring/softening), and with the GPU headroom cause we in 1080, those lighting effects etc can be high and medium...... it does make a difference for sheen and immersion.

On Grid 1/2 way down cars in front and behind, it can dip to 50+ fps , but it gathers to 60fps quickly and any mayhem with the thug AI at the start of the race can be enjoyed relatively smoothly. Out on track, normal racing gets up to 60+ 70+ maybe 80.

Looks great, controls responsive, it's race time!!!

Tried these with my 3060 and they do give good enough visuals for me.

how many Ai is this with?
You don't need 4x MSAA with DLSS ultra quality. Switch it off and gain more FPS. You can thank me later. You have two things doing the same thing.
yes pretty much, did DLSS Swap and went for most up to date.... don't know what version game defaults with, but I went with the latest.... def got a few more fps.
Back up to 2K, 2X MSAA and balanced or quality, depending on whether I want less or more lighting and ssshttuuuf...... it's decent though

yes the 3060ti teeters on the edge of decent 2K play on modern games but may be even more of a sweet spot, the 3060 and lower, using 1080. Yes it seems overkill upping the MSAA, but if you're happy with the rest and you have 10-15 more fps then why not! It looks nice. If I can keep the grid start 50 and above, you will normally always be above 60 for the rest :-)

But you are right..... I'm prob old school in that I've trained my eyes for 60fps, once sorted slap on Vsync, my 144KHz VDU is good at taking care of dips below 60, as it's Gsync and all that, and things tend to be butter smooth.
For online and probably driving games as a whole, the more fps the better. Switch all the bells and whistles off and slap it into UltraQ, track, cars and fps... that's it!

Anyone for 3/4K lol

seems like you're getting good performance on reasonable mid/high settings for a lower end 3000 series card. just goes to show you that while the game could use some optimizations, it's really not as bad as some people complaining about.. they just have grandma hardware and blame the gane.

what settings do you think impacts the most performance? i haven't done much testing yet, but it seems like car reflections and mirrors can put the biggest dent in performance. nothing else ive found to really have much effect, so i run mostly everything on ultra, or its highest setting it allows . howeverz i am running on upper end 4000 series card.

I think I was sitting at 13.... that does make a difference I'm sure... placed myself in the middle of the pack on the grid for testing

I do run lean and mean on my gaming... don't do much online so don't have apps running at all, only what's needed for a game.
I'm no game designer or graphic artist but I think fps tanks/jitters are bloody big Logo textures. The dev team should run it in linux to test with proton and the howling areas that need optimising are mega-apparent! The brandshatch bridge is a hard stutter. Maybe if they split up the big texture's?? I have noticed it slightly on higher settings in windows (btw my topic was Windows testing). The first 2 left handers on BH are in need of a look too.

To address your question on fps hitters.... I have the impression that Anisotropic Filtering is pretty heavy compared to most games, was kinda surprised. Def a 10fps diff between high and low settings which isn't normal impact for AF.

I'm sure I got 5-7 more fps when I did DLSS Swapper and updated models for DLSS.
You're upper 40 series should be capable of 2K most things banged up to max I would have thought. Maybe seeking for higher res's!

I have DSR enabled in nvidia control panel settings so even on my 2K monitor can render and display 4K, which is awesome for older titles. 4070 is my only upgrade if I want to use same PSU....... aaah the joys!

to clarify my first reply... AI = 13/14 (not sure if they reset at all. Think the session stuff saves. and I placed myself about 6th on the grid for start
