My Troubleshooting AC Evo on Win and Linux
Hi all,

I spent alot of time over the years in ACC and it was always a good benchmarker to ensure a system was stable tbh.

Anyway Windows I never had much issues but I tend to do all the standard win optimisations and switch stuff of etc.

Linux Mint however had a strange one, many were experiencing decent performance with tweaks but I had to tweak a little, (useful ones like commands to set the size of some buffer higher in case of crash when loading the track session), got round them.

Still had an issue of every 2 seconds FPS hung, kinda struggling to load in the environment, so I'm like early access wine/proton, not there yet, but still some were okay!

A repetitive thing on the protondb website was to put..... texture = high, counter intuitive I know, but I "think" it made the difference for me after game restart....

But what made the REAL difference was (cause it failed on High before, all settings failed infact. In order to fix the stop go (whch btw not fps just a broken optimisation), my issue was the fact that I didn't have a decent swapfile or swap partition setup on my Linux install (went with easy peasy at the time), so got that sorted.

Did all that, new 32GB sawp part created and being used, try again.... didn;t realise textures were at medium, failed.... checked settings.... put textures to High.... tested.... failed.... Restarted game with those settings, tested.... WORKED!!!!

Stopped game checked swapfile useage and yep it seems the game engine, LOVES to swap like a ♥♥♥♥♥ and I reckon that is why the engine is so "precious" on the manay different environments it could be installed on.

So hope this helps anybody.... oh btw 1) Have swapfile in Linux, check you Windows ones 2) that "High" settings seems weird but many have said... it is early access. so bug bug bugs! 3) Proton Experimental as many said, but only if you got everything else sorted, cause it crashed on me until i did the swapfile stuff...

If you get on track, the cars look and feeel awesome :-)

You have 16 GB RAM or 32?
Also curious what FPS you're getting, I'm on Ubuntu and getting 30 with 3080 Ti.

16GB DDR4 3600MHz
8GB DDR5 on the 3060ti GPU
Once I got the hard stutters sorted, I was getting normal fps. If you stuck at 30 vsync ON does that if it’s well below 60. Best to unlock fos limits and switch off vsync for initial, get it running, testing
Testing on Brands Hatch was getting decent, but there are hard optimisation issues on certain corners and going under the Brands Hatch bridge on back straight.
The early access gamer gone isn’t quite ready for going thru proton/wine without all sorts of issues
