Assetto Corsa EVO

VR Performance with a GTX 1080 Ti and AMD 7800x3D
Aside from the GPU, my system is quite modern with high end water cooling running an overclocked AMD 7800x3D, overclocked DDR5, and an overclocked 1080 Ti. Aside from lacking ray tracing this old GPU has still kept me going despite it's age, and will play many modern titles including performance hogs like Star Citizen and Cyberpunk 2077. The CPU just twiddles its thumbs in the meantime, rarely going over 10% usage.

In VR, AC EVO is completely unplayable for me. With my Valve Index set to 80 Hz refresh I need to get frame times under 12,5 ms for smooth play. Just sitting at the menu I'm getting 34 ms. i attempted to get the highest framerate possible by setting the absolute lowest graphics options. Further, I set the car scene to "sphere" which is a basically empty scene, and I set SteamVR settings to run the game at a greatly reduced resolution with an extremely reduced FOV (a vertical stripe rendered down the center, basically). It looks horrible this way, of course, but I just wanted to see if I could get it smooth enough at the absolute lowest possible settings. But no, even with everything as reduced as possible I can't even view the car sitting there at the menu at a decent frame rate. I did try launching a practice session to see if it was unique to the menu, but performance was equally bad. So I quit and played some Automobilista 2 instead, which runs great.

I know the game is early, but this isn't normal performance. This is exceptionally bad. Are you guys mining bitcoin in the background, or what? I don't mind if I only have a few cars to drive for now, if I could only drive!

I also use a GTX1080ti, but I limit the frame rate to 36fps and use frame interpolation to get to 72fps. If there is a frame interpolation function, why not try it?

I also use this setting for another game, EA WRC VR.
This is my setup for QuestLink.

even a 4090 with 14900k in vr runs like ♥♥♥♥ and looks horrendous the games just miles away from being fixed by the looks of things
