Assetto Corsa EVO

To Pimax Crystal/Crystal Light user - does it really need SteamVR??
I have seen a few Youtube videos now with people sharing their settings for this game when using Pimax Crystal/Crystal Light. And they all talk about their SteamVR settings. Why?

I thought this game is using OpenXR - and Pimax Play is now running OpenXR itself. No need to run OpenXR through SteamVR. SteamVR hurts the performance in every VR game I have.

So is it really so that you for some strange reason need to involve SteamVR into this, or is just that these Youtubers really don't know how to use their Pimax Crystal/Light headsets?

Native OpenXR is always a few FPS better than SteamVR. "Strange reasons" to run SteamVR anyway are most likely the application layers that can be overlayed with SteamVR. I use this to display various applications (browser, racing overlays, chat, etc) in the VR space.
Sadly there is no* way to do this with native OpenXR yet.

* There is OpenKneeBoard, but that's very specific and doesn't fit all scenarios.
