4x seems to be the longest, not sure if that turns out to be a 1:1 ratio though.
What seems to be the problem with a longer time scale is you can get a ton done in just one day.
Can basically loot an entire zone and never have to worry about freezing or drinking etc.
It's more realistic I guess, except the time to freeze is very slow. The only thing you really need to worry about is Wolves/Bears.
Might be fun though :P
Torches and lanterns last longer, takes longer for character to freeze ect. When you sleep, pass time or perform an action the time passes as it would with the normal multiplier.
It's so nice to have a longer day and more time with daylight.
Edit: Maths.
It would be a OPTION, so people who want to play the old way could.
Have your tried the custom settings yet? If not, do a Custom Survival game, and set the day length to 4x. I personally found 2x to be too slow for me (tested in Pilgrim), I enjoy the feeling of having to rush and carefully manage time, sleep, tasks and such. But my husband is playing on 4x right now, in Stalker. Nothing else changed but the day length. He is only a few days in in game time, but says he finds it easier to deal with dodging rabid wolves and get everything else done that he wants to do. And he finds it lets him enjoy the landscapes and views more. But he also said the length of time that it takes for him to recover from a struggle or from sprinting really has forced him to change how he approaches things.
I will try 2x and up in Voyageur & Stalker but not Interloper. Interloper is not my thing. But I can see how 4x might be a real plus for a Loper, and think 2x or above *might* help make Stalker a bit less frenzied at times. Or *might* make it worse... 4x more time to be chewed on by wolves, lol!
Try all of the day length settings in your preferred mode, and see? And let us know if any of them felt better for your playstyle?
Im going to do some testing tonight with the time scale thing, Interloper is nt my thing either just because i feel like its a hunt for matches :P
hmmm 2hours = 24 hours, 1m=12m
and yet....while staring at 99% Fresh Gut on the kitchen floor, I could have Return of the King at the end running with the unending end finally end and that #@$%^& Fresh Gut would STILL be at 99%
RRRRRR
afaik, it was never like this. Calling it the old way is incorrect. I've been playing on 4x time with the modifiers adjusted so calories/freezing/thirst/fatigue aren't slowed down so much that they're a non-issue. As it is, on 4x multiplier, I pass maybe 2 days per session before I get bored, and that's only due to sleeping which isn't affected by the multiplier. The only game that takes longer and leaves me about as bored after a decent length session is Civilization. Why even want a real-time mode? It would take a literal week to cure hide/gut/branches. And you'd need to slow the walking speed down a lot, as well. Being able to run laps around Milton and loot the entire town in half a day seems.. ridiculous. I'm a hiker, walking in these conditions is much, much slower than it currently is in-game. You could completely run out of things to do in an area before a Deer hide cured. In theory it would completely throw the balance of the game off. As it is, I had to adjust 4x multiplier a decent amount to not be an Uberman.
Fresh gut cures over 5 days, which means it cures 20% over 1 day, which means 1% is slightly over 1 hour, which means it should take 3 minutes and few seconds to go from 99% to Cured.
