Some things cant be moved IE stoves and fixed items
I would be surprised if HL doesn't change this in a future patch. I think we should have the option to move "large" objects too, like barrels, toolboxes, etc. rather than just destroying them.
Obviously, the system is brand new, so maybe this was overlooked or they just prioritized other features of safehouse customization. In any event, I've encountered a few bugs with the system (like not being able to place a painting on any wall of one house, objects floating, lockers sinking into the ground, etc.), so they have some polishing work to do.
Still very happy and impressed with the safehouse customization overall. It's one of the best features they've ever added to the game imo.
You find Ptarmigans in BI in the hill at right of the path for the broken bridge, ahead the two trailers.
This is a hit and miss, probable dependent on location, in Quonset I can move toolboxes, barrels, the fire barrel. But the workbench can only move once, after that it doesn't allow move again.
In some houses I can move the microwave but don't find a new suitable surface for fit it, in PV Community Center Hall" I can move and place the non interactive microwaves, probable they are just boxes with new skin, different to the one with movable door.
I wanted to cry when I saw that achievement. But I was never going to get to 100% in TLD anyway. I might make it to 500 days now with all the new content though!

Barrels, toolboxes on wheels, tires, etc. should all be an option to move. For that matter, even the woodburning stoves from the fishing shacks should be an option. I have a two burner rectangular shaped stove that I can move myself ~ and I'm in my 60s and deal with RA and SLE lol. I can't pick it up and carry it, but I can move it. Even if it required a rope to drag it across the ice, and tools to take apart the chimney, it should be doable (outside of game mechanics that may or may not actually allow for it to happen).
I just think that if a player is willing to search out the supplies and do the work, it would be nice to have "full" customization as an option, including safe storage! The six burner stoves?? Yeah, not moving those, but the little one burners from the fishing shacks would be a fantastic deal imo. You can bet I'd be doing that in real life under the game conditions, simply because it would make sense. The concept of killing a moose or bear just for the pelt because you don't want to lug the meat back is not all that 'thoughtful' imo ... and I've absolutely done that until I could craft the salt box and travois.
The other things that should be movable are the containers, including the wooden trunks, plastic totes, metal boxes, and backpacks. The wooden trunks could require a rope, but the rest should be able to be placed in the travois.
I've got 1000s of hours into this game, and was truly hoping that with customization I'd be inspired enough to play again for a while. I'm testing some things out (and I do have the DLC), but so far I'm still not finding a lot of reasons to dive back in. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the game has progressed to this point, but most of what is in the DLC should have been there from the beginning imo ... or at least rolled out with Episode 1.
I'm just at the point of setting up my first customized safe house. Depending on how that works/doesn't work under the current mechanics, I will either continue this run or play something else until some further updates happen.
I'm building a base in the quonset garage and I will say, despite the obvious shortcomings of the safehouse customization system, I still find it to be pretty incredible. I've never felt so attached to a base before. The ability to place items on shelves, add art to walls, etc. really increases the immersion for me. I'm working on making more furniture now, so I'll just have to make sure I have a good layout planned before I place anything.
