Something I started years ago was using Windows Task Scheduler to run a batch file I made that automated the process of saving what I want into a folder that synchronizes with Google Drive. Because of this, I have been able to restore when issues happen.
The solution already exists: do your own backups.
The solution is a simple amentment in the code.
But yes, atm you have to backup your save, as you should for any game you spend a lot of time in.
Why are you claiming that the developer is responsible for your computer? Your computer belongs to nobody else, so this is still your issue. Either create your own solution, or not, but the developers are still not responsible for any of it. The save system is working as intended.
But let's stop here, we won't agree and this is ok.
No, it is not ok, because you are the one blaming someone else. You stop here.
End of line.
