Yeah, that's the way updates work - you cannot run an old save on a new version of the game. It'd be pretty much impossible with a game such as TLD.

I think one of the recent youtube updates mentioned that we should all finish up our old games as saves won't work with the new restructuring and DLC. They've changed all the loot tables.

Now it is fixed. It wasn't previously. The reason most people were playing it was because of a player-made fix. Their communication has been absolutely horrible - they were actually saying the issue was fixed a few minutes after release.

Doesn't seem that bad to me, it was just released today and they've already fixed it.

It's not fix though, it's the base game, there's no new regions, no cougars, there isn't anything new....

so i exited from steam and started it again , but now ive lost everything and the story episode has a "buy now" next to it and wont start , despite me having it before the update.

So they have essentially stolen part of the game in an update i didnt want , robbing ****s NOT HAPPY AT ALL , i bought and paid

Calm down! All players who purchased the Long Dark before the update will continue to have access to all Wintermute episodes including the last one scheduled for release Dec 23.

so if i uninstall and reinstall it will be there ,, because at the moment i cant access the story mode , its telling me to buy now ??

the copy paste dll file worked. but the auto walk function is broken now. just saw my first doe and the sounds are much better

I don't actually criticize their failed release, it can happen. I criticize their lack of communication where people were confused whether they were actually aware of this issue and at the same time attempting to decode vague official answers to random people on Twitter.

I got the il2ccp as well then did a file verification which seemed to check out with out adding anything and the game loaded and plays but without the option to start the DLC. Options are Survival, Wintermute or Quit


Edit: I see this is an expansion to Survival mode and perhaps it is working now after-all. Am I seeing new areas tho?

So i have uninstalled and reinstalled and i have lost the story part of the game , it wont start and has "buy me" next to it , the only thing usable is the survivor part ,, i thought we still had access, the robbing C***s ,, i had the episodes before the update , now the have gone and the developers are wanting me to pay ,, F*** that , i want my money back

I'm sure it's a bug, they're working on it.
It's Gaming in 2022, the work ethic of the previous generation is gone. Now it's normal to shove it out the door and fix it later
