Arrows despawning
I just shot a deer and the arrow lodged in the deer around the head or neck area, which killed the deer. I looked around the corpse for the arrow but couldn't find it anywhere. I suspect when the deer fell, it landed on top of the arrow with it still lodged in the corpse. I lit a fire, harvested the carcass and went away to put away the remains at Camp Office, then came back to see if I could find the arrow where the corpse had been, and easily found the spot by the remains of the fire and the blood pool from the harvesting. No arrow. Seems like when the corpse despawned with the arrow still stuck in it, the arrow also despawned too.

There are 2 things I'd like to see to fix this issue:
1- When a live animal or carcass that has arrows lodged in it despawns, all arrows drop to the ground wherever the carcass or live animal was at the time.
2- When in the harvesting menu, add an extra item that displays any arrows lodged in the carcass and allow us to retrieve them from the harvesting screen. This only makes sense, if we're removing the skins, meat and guts, we should be able to remove any arrows still lodged in the carcass too, and it would eliminate the problem of losing arrows stuck in a corpse just because it was on the bottom, as we'd be moving the carcass around as we're harvesting it anyways, and would uncover arrows in that position.

I'm currently at HRV and I've already lost 4 arrows!!!!!!!!!! Hinterland, do something with it!! I hit a wolf - no arrow. I hit 2 x deers - no arrows. I hit moose - no arrow. WTF??? As long as materials to produce arrows are not respowning it would be nice to not have problems with dissapearing arrows.

I've been losing arrows left and right. It's so bad that using the save editor to replace the despawning arrows is a requirement just to play the game!

Interesting. Clearly this does not affect some players as much as others. I'm on day 160 of a Loper run and probably have only lost 5 arrows. One was to a deer that fell dead next to a cliff and clipped into it...of course the arrow was buried in the rock. Several others were to wolves that fell on the arrow.

I'm not a programmer, but there is clearly a trigger event that causes the animal to "die". It seems that forcing any lodged arrows to drop to the ground at that moment would cure a lot of the headaches. The animal might still fall on the dislodged arrow, but at least it would be there once you finish harvesting and the carcass de-spawns.

You wouldn't get anymore cool screenshots of headshots, but I'd be happy to trade that for getting my arrow back.

Likewise there has to be a trigger event for when a live animal despawns off the map for a time as well, and it could check for any items stuck in the animal and trigger them to just drop on the ground.

BTW I am a programmer, though lately I mostly use HTML/CSS I have done PHP, Javascript, Java and C++ in the past.
It affects people differently I see. I had two arrows for the majority of my current stalker run(133 days). I lost one to a wolf running off with it but the other I still have and made good use of.
My biggest issue is that the arrow doesn't often drop to the ground. Instead it floats in the air right where it hit the animal. It rarely lodges in in target.

I've also noticed that arrows tend to hide under the ice if you kill something on top of the ice. Clicking frantically in the area retrieved it for me.

Today :
shot a wolf, hit, arrow drop on ice of Mystery Lake. I can see it.
Enter a house for warm up (loper), then outside about one hour later, no more arrow.

I had the opposite happen when I was accosted by a wolf just outside of camp office, I'd just shot and harvested a deer, just outside Camp Office, and was walking back to drop the meat off, all smelly, and the wolf came running up snarling, blocked it from charging by dashing onto the porch, where it couldn't path to me. I then went after it with my bow (the wolf had pissed me off 1 too many times) and first shot missed at the wolf's feet, sending it running off in a squeaking frenzy. 2nd shot also missed at the wolf's feet, more wolf running around camp office squeaking. First shot landed right in the middle of the clearing outside camp office, no sign of the arrow. 2nd one was in the trees to the north of camp office, and I was able to recover that one, and finally put an arrow in the wolf on the 3rd shot. Got that arrow back but the first was was still conspicuously absent. It landed in the snow, right out in the open, so I should not have had any trouble finding it. I went into camp office to drop off the guts and hides from my 2 kills, and came out to find that missing arrow suddenly had appeared right where I was certain it had landed, in plain view, right in the middle of the clearing, unmistakable.

There's definitely a bug with the item display or existence or something to have items, particularly arrows that have been shot, appear only when they feel like appearing. I don't like it and I want it fixed. Not heard anything from Hinterland on this and it's been a problem for a while now, at least since I bought the game last December.

Today i have a variation of magic disapearing arrows, air stuck arrows

Clearly The Glitch Gremlin's left the AVGN universe to infect the TLD universe's arrows!
This is still happening to the point it's making the game unplayable. I sent a bug report via the website, a week ago and still heard nothing back from Hinterland. Could you guys pay attention to this, it IS a bug, and it's ruining the game. I can't play with I'm losing an average of 20% of the arrows I shoot to them just not existing in the game any more. The only way I was able to keep the game at least somewhat playable was to use a save editor to replace the bugged arrows, but now I can't even trust that workaround anymore as it just corrupted a save file and ended my run. I've seen people reporting about this for months, even before the SR update and have yet to see any sign Hinterland is actually even read any of these bug reports or cares to even work on a fix, and this lack of communication is getting VERY frustrating. Until HInterland can get their act together and fix the bugs so the game's properly playable, I'll have to put TLD back on the shelf.

This is extremely frustrating as this game is one of my favorites when it's behaving properly, but I just can't enjoy myself when I'm not only fighting against legitimate challenges in the game but also all the damn bugs that just break the experience and create frustration as I keep having to do what is not meant to be done in TLD, save scum because what I was doing got messed up by a bug. I shouldn't have to be using save editors or save scumming just to get basic functionality in the game, that's not normal and I shouldn't have to be posting something like this, Hinterland should not be ignoring a game breaking issue like this.

I send in a bug report, could you please respond?

EDIT: It would also be VERY helpful if you'd add an autoresponce to your bug reporting system to at least let us know that you received the report and have a means to reply in case any new info comes to light we'd like to pass along to you before a human has had a chance to read and reply to the bug report. Right now that's impossible, other then by sending a new bug report, or posting it here, which makes keeping track of bugs almost impossible for your team with info being scattered about like that. In addition, it would reassure us that you did actually get the report and it didn't just disappear into a black hole somewhere. If we don't get the auto response, that can also give us a clue that something may have gone wrong with the initial bug report and it didn't get through to you.

I had report 4 or 5 bugs, for the first at least 2 weeks ago, never had one answer.
Interesting. Hinterland were all over the sprain and rifle/bow aiming bugs after the SR update, and I did report the rifle and bow aiming bug and did get a reply back and a hotfix to patch the issue, though I find the bow aiming is still a bit off, with the arrows tending to leave the bow initially at an upward angle, or aimed at a point on the screen above where the graphic shows them as going. That still complicates getting the height and range right when hunting/defending myself with the bow, made even worse when arrows also keep disappearing.

The devs of the save editor were able to fix my save file so at least my 40+ day custom Stalker run is back alive. I say custom stalking as I used stalker rules as the baseline and changed a couple of settings to tweak the game to my liking.

KNOWN ISSUES CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION

*[Survival Mode] Arrows deflecting incorrectly off soft surfaces

*[Survival Mode] Arrows being pushed through ground in certain scenarios

*[Survival Mode] Arrows becoming stuck in the air after being fired

That does not seem to include arrows trapped in carcasses that despawned and the arrows seem to go with the carcas, nor arrows trapped in a live animal that despawns with the arrows trapped in it and then the animal later respawns and all the arrows are gone. This is particularely common for the moose, which does not suffer bleed out, so you can easily get several arrows stuck in the moose and then the moose is also prone to despawn from an area for several days at a time, and take the arrows away with it, then respawn back in and the arrows do not respawn with the moose.

Yes, there is an intermittent lost arrow bug going on...impossible to tell what factors into it.

I suppose a peaceful philosophy is to accept that running out of arrows won't kill us, but it could.

Look, hinterlands, this is a long-running, constantly regurgitating issue.

Would you please get some code going where

1. Bow shot success, Icon flashes, 1 xp

2. Simple Arrow removed from game. Arrow(s) if applicable.

3. Harvest animal, Simple Arrow(s) available to harvest at reduced condition. By harvest I mean you have to expend time and effort to safely extract the arrow sunk into its corpse, because that's what arrows have to do kill barring some freak shot that clips the carotid.

Your current clumsy system of bouncing arrows, absorbed arrows, arrows that "fall" out and land wherever (they don't really, your code just doesn't know what to do with Simple Arrows in an animal when we transition) is BROKEN.

I don't understand how your code can load up a region I'm revisiting and repro every stick, recwood, simple tool box, liter of water, etc. I have scattered all over the whole map, but a rigid, fair, risky, semi-realistic solution to shooting an animal with an arrow and recovering said arrow is so difficult.

I just shot a wolf outside Camp Office point blank, killed it, went over to it, no arrow. Went inside, grabbed firewood, exited, false hoping arrow would materialize next to it, nope.

That's 2 of my 12 arrows gone.

Gettin' old. This issue continually, continually rears its head.
