Torch + fire bug?
Have encountered 10+ times now. If holding a torch and then interact with a fire (includes lighting a fire with a lit torch - sometimes necessary) movement to look around and walk is frozen. Can interact with fire, inventory, radial dial display... but no movement. Central looking dot remains stuck on fire. No way to escape frozen movement except to quit and reload. Very frustrating. Has only occurred with torch and fire combo, no other objects.

Have searched but not found any info. Anyone else get this? Any fixes?.
On PC and all up to date.

Can you provide more info? The dev's do monitor this forum.

Are you playing Wintermute or Survival? Are you using any custom settings?

survival - I had the same a few times. You just need to reload the game.

Have a lighted torch
throw it on the ground
hold a new one
try to light one from another
when you do it sometimes you cannot move
I think it happened more often in buildings but I am not sure

Thank you, to you both.
Vanilla game, no mods. Is occuring in Nomad challenge. Doesn't seem to matter which fire. Can be camp fire or fireplaces. mf187doubleg... if right seems any fire on ground (fire or torch) can trigger bug, though I have never put torch on floor to light another torch.

The devs have heard about this bug. It is relatively easy to reproduce so they should be able to work out what is going wrong.

After hearing about it, I went into my sandbox and tried to reproduce the effect at a campfire and succeeded. It was not all the time as sometimes I could light the torch without a problem. It did not occur at an indoor stove or fireplace.

Ah, had another look to narrow it down. The last fireplace it freezes for me is at the Mountaineer's Hut; since that hut is part of the landscape (no load of an area when going in the door), perhaps that fireplace is considered 'outside' just as normal campfires. Perhaps this is a bug for outside fires only.
Thanks everyone for your posts about lighting torches locking up gameplay, we are looking into it!

Woah! +1 for checking and responding steam discussions. Awesome game with dedicated devs. Thanks for both.

I have the same problem every time I try to use the torch on fire. The game only allow to throw the torch, but can't move.

Same thing here. Happened once lighting with a fire and happened once when lighting a torch on a lit torch.

A possible temporary workaround I found is to go to your inventory, unequip the torch then equip it agan and try to light it up with a match. Match wasted but at least you won't be forced to "re-load" the game.

My temp workaround to get back full movement without reloading is to select campcraft-passtime and press the pass time button and cancel straightaway to avoid wasting hardly any time.

Thanks for sharing. I tried similar such things, but not these. Will give them a go.

I will test it on a new run. Currently I have a good loper run and it would be so much waste if I get stuck :)
