Game causing high temperatures?
Just want to say that I am loving the game so far, but I was just playing it and after a while it seemed to burn up my GPU and CPU. I've checked for viruses and other such issues, and it only seems to happen with this game.

Is there some kind of memory leak or other problem? Can it be fixed?

Thanks all.

What settings are you using? I am on a toaster... running it on an AMD FX-4130 Quad Core, NVIDIA 740GT (2Gb), using custom settings (mixed Medium & High with VSync Off, SSAO Off and Shadows Off). Currently seeing CPU using all cores evenly, from 2-10% overall CPU load, Around 30% RAM used with AV running background, 12 GB DDR3 RAM, and showing 15-30° C for CPU, 40-45° C on my old GPU. Running a smooth 50-60 fps in Mystery Lake, where I have my lowest fps at these settings, 70+ fps on most other maps. Rare microstutters, mostly on ice. No signs of a major memory leak on my game. (I am playing Survival Mode... Wintermute may be a bit harsher on performance).

Try adjustng your setting from the Options menu> Quality (graphics settings), and see if your temps drop?

I should have mentioned I was playing Wintermute but while I imagine it could cause a higher work load I wouldn't think it would be so drastically different to yours. My PC is only slightly better than what yours is so hopefully it is just a matter of tweaking the settings. I'll give it a go and post results here.

Thanks for the response/input.

Brought the settings down to mostly medium (except for a couple of the less important ones). Temp is lower for sure, not quite to the point of your PC though IFYGD. I wonder if there is issues with optimization on AMD GPU's. I'm running one.

Yeah, Wintermute did make my toaster run hotter and slower, but not critical levels. Best of luck to you... took me about 30 minutes of playing around with settings to find what ran the game best w/o frying my rig. But it was time well spent. Hope you find the perfect combo for yours too. :)

We ninja posted there, lol!
Yeah, seen quite a few people saying there were various issues with AMD GPU's or CPU's. My CPU seems fine, and it's an AMD. The GPU may be the issue, and an issue with only AMD. :((

Haha, that timing!

Oh really? Damn, that is a shame but not entirely unexpected. The AMD GPU seems to be the big difference between our PC's so that's what made me think of it. I'll have a play around with settings some more, the changes I made after your suggestions did make a difference so I'll just trial and error it. Maybe they will look into the issue some more.

Do you happen to have Chrome running in the background? There is an advanced setting called something like "use hardware accelleration" that if it's on, it will heat up your card big time. Also, on my system, having Chrome openned on a second screen even with the setting turned off will cause TLD to have micro stutters. I guess bottom line is, close down anything else that might be running besides TLD.

Also, SSAO is a big one for heating up a card, as is high framerates. Turning on Vsync or using a framerate limiter to keep your framerate from going too high can really lower the temps on a card.

Good suggestion, but no I tend to make sure I am only running the game when I play anything. Makes perfect sense for it to slow yout system. Now SSAO, that's an interesting one. I haven't tweaked that setting yet. I kept Vsync off because I was having no screen tearing but now you say that, I should be switching it on.

Thank you for the response.
