Help me to Install Please! -Failed to initialize Direct3D.
Hello guys I`m not playing the game for 6 months and saw youtube videos and got excited. I don't understand what's wrong. I install the game when I click to play it says,

`Failed to initialize Direct3D.
Make sure you have at least DirectX 9.0c installed, have drivers for your
graphics card and have not disabled 3D acceleration
in display settings.
InitializeEngineGraphics failed`

I tried to do those steps but lost my way after few steps:
Go to the Start menu, and search for "regedit."
Run the program.
We need to find the right folder and file to edit.
Open the drop-down menu for "HKEY_CURRENT_USER."
Open the drop-down menu for "Software."

After that, there is only Valve/Steam and I don't know where is this Graphic file I should fix.
Any ideas?

Try to launch DirectX9 version from game folder

Thank you so much but it gave the same error. I played this game with this computer before, I don't know what's wrong now.

Maybe update your graphic card drivers?
P.S. Is it Laptop or PC?

OMG! You're the first person I know that updating drivers helped to =)) You are welcome =)

Hi @hinterland_community and all others interested.

The driver update didn't work for me. I'm still getting this error. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the game.

Is there like... some kind of chain of processes where this could flare up that I could test one by one?

I played on this same computer just about a week ago. No idea what changed on my end.

Thanks for posting about the issue you're experiencing. As already mentioned, there are steps contained in the link above that are good troubleshooting steps to help narrow down what may be causing your problem.

Also, has your computer received any updates recently? Sometimes incorrectly installed updates can be the cause of the issues you're experiencing. We recommend a clean reinstall of any GPU drivers. We've also received reports that removing the Microsoft Visual C++ updates from their PC and using Windows Update to reinstall them resolved similar issues.

Computer restart didn't do it.

File integrity verification didn't fix it.

Launching in DX9 wasn't the solution.

Clean uninstall and reinstall of graphics drivers (Nvidia Geforce 760) , still nothin'.

Reinstalled the game. No-go .

Uninstalled and reinstalled all C++ Redistribution packages. Nada.

Disabled scaling. Still nope.

I'm gonna install it on my laptop and see if it works there haha

Yep, it runs (slowly) on the laptop.

Maybe I'll reformat my PC ;-)

Hey! We've got liftoff!

Third time is the charm, apparently when it comes to windows updates. My initial attempts did nothing, but this time it had a big fatty update, the kind where the computer restarts multiple times.

Since then, it boots. Go figure.

Thanks for your responsiveness! I'm impatiently looking forward to the continuation of the Wintermute campaign :)
