Guide for Sundered Pass
Hello all, been a while.

I've been working going through some mental health issues, and I thought maybe playing The Long Dark again could help me focus on something, and do me some good.

I'm at a moment where I don't want to be overly stressed, though, or deal with the pressure of losing my character save (even with the new non-perm death mechanics).

I basically want to immerse myself in the parts of the maps I haven't completed yet, namely, Sundered Pass, and thoroughly explore. But mentally and emotionally, don't want to play high risk. I hope that makes sense.

Are there any guides to that region yet?

If you search online, you'll find plenty of Lets Plays for the TFTFT regions.
There is a guide here on Steam that has maps of the new regions: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2899955301&searchtext=Sundered+Pass
If you search through the TFTFT subforum : https://steamcommunity.com/app/305620/discussions/16/ you may be able to find hints and tips, and links to walkthroughs and other maps as well. The online forums will have info too: https://hinterlandforums.com/forums/forum/105-tales-from-the-far-territory-discussion/ (and check the streams/videos section- there may be some videos there as well).

That map basically split into half. One consist of hunting area and civilized houses. Another half is pure climbing area. From middle you will see a narrow highway on the high ground, which leads to somewhere mysterious.

To be completely honest: if don't want to don't want to "be stressed" while playing The Long Dark I'd recommend 'not' playing Sundered Pass, or play it on Pilgrim mode (so you can focus on exploration and less on survival mechanics). Without spoilers: SP is generally agreed upon by players as the hardest region in TLD by a significant margin; personally I'd consider it as challenging or more than Bleak Inlet or Blackrock.

I'd recommend the Fandom Wiki's article on Sundered Pass. Be aware though, it does have spoilers for the region (like maps), as well as some information on the 3rd/final TALE "Final Horizon"s points-of-interest locations.
https://thelongdark.fandom.com/wiki/Sundered_Pass

My personal tips for Sundered Pass:
  • Have full Condition when you travel to SP. Don't travel there if you have Scurvy enabled and your Vitamin-C is low.
  • If you are trying to complete the 3rd TALE "FINAL HORIZON", complete TALES 1 and 2 first (on at least 1 other save) so you can progress. If you have completed Signal Void/Buried Echoes on another save but not your current save, you can still progress Final Horizon (if it's in your Journal), but you'll want least pick up the Handheld Shortwave Radio first (in Forsaken Airfield) and repair the Transmitter there first.
  • Bring a bedroll. Ideally Improvised Down or Bearskin.
  • Crampons or Improvised Crampons
  • Insulated Flask to keep your teas warm
  • Wear your best clothes (mend if low condition). I'd recommend focusing on Warmth and Protection if you have a choice.
  • Weapon and ammo
  • at least 4 Bandages and some Old Man's Beard/Antiseptic
  • Firestarter
  • 1-2 Flares (windy)
  • 1-3 Emergency Stim if you have them
  • Coal and non-smelly food in your spare room.

Great suggestions above. My additions:

# Bring extra bandages. Some of the sloped hills have nasty spots in them.
# Bring extra coffee and Go! Energy Drinks. You may get a sudden need to travel quickly across inhospitable terrain, every little bit helps.

I also have a question regarding Sundered Pass: The only times I got Glimmer Fog in this region is while I was on the plateau in the northeast, never down in the valley or in the northwest area. Can anyone recall getting Glimmer Fog in the other areas?

I experienced it while down in the valley. I was there for a couple weeks and had it happen only twice. I think its rarer than Buried Echos/FA

Weather in TLD 'is' affected by region, e.g. Bleak Inlet has a bias towards auroras, Pleasant Valley has a bias towards blizzards. But as far as I'm aware there are no mechanics in Survival which create a bias based on what area the player is in. There are some oddities with how passing time is calculated regarding weather checks, so maybe that is leading to unintended preferences for certain kinds of weather (e.g. if the player is passing time/sleeping indoors VS outdoors).

If you experienced e.g. "Glimmer Fog occurring when the player is in one sub-area of SP" that could be true for one playthrough, or more rarely multiple playthroughs, but that is purely down to randomness.
