Go find some timberwolves or a cougar. That'll give you some new challenges. There's entirely new mechanics added with the Tales quests, plus the story ties into Wintermute.
It is definitely more than a walking simulator, but ... maybe a looting simulator? Personally I feel driven to get to new areas just to see what I can find there, both the environments and the stuff. It's why I enjoy the interloper difficulty level but normally play custom just because there's better loot (although sometimes just too much of it). There's also a nice unlocking aspect, unlocking badges, skill levels, achievements, and items (like the pack/crampons/woodworking tools).
I was kind of done with it until the DLC dropped. The trader, travois, and house customization (plus a few new areas I hadn't visited yet) were enough to pull me back
in.
The story that it adds is nice. I think it needs a little refinement, there's a lot of searching involved, I don't see how you find everything you need to solve the stories without youtubing and I hate when games send you to the internet to figure out how to beat them.
Ultimately once I visit all the new areas and finish out the Tales, I'll probably be done with it again. Still I think >700 hours played is more than I can ask of any game. I've gotten my money's worth.
If I was as bored with it as you sound, I would probably just find something else to play.
You say you've played Survival? then with all due respect I suggest you know the score there too. Nothing comes to you on a plate. You should know, you have to seek out everything. Including the Tales.
Here's a hint. Go to Forsaken Airfield, climb the control tower and pick up a note along with the hand held radio receiver. Everything starts there, but it's all at your pace.
I've been over 500 days getting my Loper ready to do the Tales. Kept getting sidetracked. (Fallout anyone
